What's more, I also disagree with the notion that platforming people with "different opinions" will necessarily make a space more open or welcoming, especially when those "different opinions" can be boiled down to pretty transparent hatred and bigotry. I don't know the adage off the top of my head

Their revenue is a bit cynical and not really accurate to the thought process I've seen developers have when working on a game. If every game dev just made their game to appeal to as many people as possible, then every game would be the same uninteresting risk-free stuff over and over again.

Treating those groups poorly or purposefully seeking out incendiary situations for the sake of controversy and views. I don't think they should ban people from playing the game or anything, but I don't see a problem with them intentionally distancing themselves from the more toxic "fans" out there.
