Four Clouded Drab moths in their various colours from yesterday morning. Anything but drab! #moths #MothsMatter #TeamMoth #ento #UKwildlife

Two dazzling discs of sunshine. Dandelion and Lesser Celandine. #yellowflowers for #WildflowerHour

Another beautiful evening sky.

Can anyone identify the animal from which this tooth came? Thx

I'm giving a talk on 22nd March near Stratford-upon-Avon, about how to make our gardens more #pollinator friendly... with a focus on #bumblebees and solitary bees, in case anyone is interested? 🐝 More info, and tickets, via the link below 👇 #wildlifegardening www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/gardening-...

We've been the best of friends for almost a decade now, and he deservedly had a large following over on the bird site as a red-hot orchid hunter and all-round top botanist, but it seems not many folk here on here are aware of and following @thenewgalaxy.bsky.social. Shame that, as he's a top bloke!

Just back from a torchlit walk, and surprised to see so many White-legged Snake Millepedes (and one centipede) wandering about on the path. #UKwildlife

Brent Geese hanging out at Wells-next-the-Sea. #birds #geese #norfolk #UKwildlife

Gorgeous Gorse and a beautiful blue sky.

On the cliffs at Hunstanton, plenty of Fulmars to be seen. #birds #hunstanton #UKwildlife

And the sun sets on another beautiful day.

Our attention grabbed by their raucous calls, we had the great pleasure of watching a small colony of Fulmars on the cliffs at Cromer, as they bonded and argued the day away. #birds #Cromer #UKwildlife

Seen in one of the hides @Pensthorpe today, a tiny beetle called Longitarsus dorsalis. Enjoying a bit of sunshine like our good selves. #beetles #ento #UKwildlife

I the garden today, three 7-spot Ladybirds, Eristalis tenax hoverfly and a Buff-tailed Bumblebee queen.

Today we found an abundance of Dog’s Mercury for #WildflowerHour

Good morning. 6am and the sun is coming up. That’s more like it.

A cold and frosty morning.

Following last night’s rolling mist, we were welcomed this morning by a beautiful frost. Here, against a clear blue sky, we have a Common Hogweed seed head with a splendid icy coat.

Doing a bit of decorating and found this, sadly deceased, little beetle in a dusty corner. Looks like Melinopterus prodromus. #beetles

A Goldfinch feeding on the seeds of a Verbena bonariensis in the garden this afternoon. One of the benefits of not cutting back too early. #birds #WildlifeGardening #UKwildlife

Look @bumblebeetrust.bsky.social are here. Do give them a follow folks...

The first UK Naturalist starter park is now officially full go.bsky.app/DeyPecR - with spring just around the corner it seems like a good time to start a second one, so hit me up with suggestions. Anyone who posts primarily about UK (non-birdy) nature is welcome.

In the garden this morning. Snowdrops and frost.

There have been updates to some upcoming NNNS events, notably the series of workshops and the NNNS/NBIS Recorders Day. Updated details are on our website norfolknaturalists.org.uk/wp/events-pa... Firstly, the Wasps workshop planned for 1st March will now take place on 19th July at Sheringham Park.

Pleased to add more #tree suppliers to the Peat Free Nurseries List today. Now more than 140 growers listed across the UK, including Frank P. Matthews, with their huge range of fruit and ornamental trees, and #peatfree conifer growers, Golden Grove Nursery. Pls share 🙏 #sustainable #gardening

On our mini green roof, some mosses have made it their home. Campylopus introflexus, Rosulabryum capillare and a Syntrichia species we think. #mosses

For our second four for #WildflowerHour Yarrow, Green Alkanet, Alexanders and Hairy Bittercress.

Two sets of four for #WildflowerHour this evening. Here’s the first. Winter Heliotrope, Cow Parsley, Lesser Celandine and Red Dead-nettle

In the garden today. With the sunshine and relative warmth, along came our first Anthophora plumipes (male and female) and Bombylius major of the year. Only managed pics of Mrs Hairyfoot, and most of those were duffers. #bees #BeeFlies #ento #UKwildlife

The tufty club outing. #birds
