The real problem is not this man. It is who appointed him. He is a fool but is boss is malevolent.

I never thought I would live to see this. I will be 80 next year and worry about the world my children and grandchildren inherit. I think my generation in the West is the luckiest generation of all history.

You said today there was no sentence that would include you, as of Irish extraction, and coloured people in the derogatory framework of the current attitude of the Government. You must be too young to temember the signs saying ‘No dogs, no blacks, no Irish’.

Congratulations. I look forward to it but it cannot possibly equal the visceral thrill of reading your words. You are a true genius.

“What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the laws. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?”. Plato more than 2000 years ago.

I am a Catholic. To believe God wants us all to love each other is about as progressive as you can get. If different prominent catholics have interpreted Jesus’ commands somewhat strangely it does not take from the central message of love and caring which is central to our faith.

Fully agree. I have Mathematics students I help (retired myself). The questions they ask get very plausible and expert sounding answers but are totally incorrect.

Will definitely get it. I have just finished Squeaky Clean. A really good book. I did not expect its emotional power. I could cry for Davey and his daughter.

Did you see this report from The Washington Post The final honor guard for Pope Francis included migrants, prisoners, transgender people, the homeless and others selected by the Vicariate of Rome as a symbol of the late pope’s mission of inclusion and outreach.

I never knew that. I always thought that the phrases you quoted attributed to Hoyle and Einstein were accurate. Einstein’s phrase is even quoted in Misner, Thorne and Wheeler’s masterpiece Gravitation.

As a lay person with no education in History or Archeology (Mathematics is my field) I fully endorse this review. A brilliant book.

Remember that from the reign of Henry VIII to about 50 years ago the majority of English people believed their head of state was God’s representative on Earth.

I get my beautiful Italian coffee beans from caffeeborbone.com where 6kg with free delivery cost me €127.07. Worth trying. Was put on to it by a lovely Italian restaurant in Tenerife.
