Currently juggling multiple windows setting up library holds (physical and digital) and a shopping wishlist of International Booker-eligible books so I can be nimble on Tuesday when @thebookerprizes.bsky.social announces the longlist.... #booksky

Loads of #literary #magazines are coming to Bluesky, here is a great list to follow! PLEASE SHARE TO HELP THEM LEAVE TWITTER! #litmags #writer #writingcommunity go.bsky.app/7cWNC2j

And it’s spectacular

YAYYY

I have gone from not knowing about a book to incredibly intrigued to can’t wait to read in the space of half an hour… (1000 pages of translated experimental lit? Yes, please)

So yes, I did cobble together a prediction list for the International Booker Prize (over on IG, link below). It’s a completely futile but enjoyable exercise since I’ve learned about a whole bunch of great translated books that I now want to read. www.instagram.com/p/DGOxLmmyDy...

Over on bookstagram, the excitement for this longlist is palpable. And while trying to make predictions is a mug’s game (that I just partook in), we just can’t help ourselves 😂. Am counting the sleeps till the list is announced. Can’t wait.

Amidst endless snow shovelling and doomscrolling, I am actually reading. I’m past halfway and this is great. One single sentence that has me constantly saying “what is going onnnn?” in the best possible way. @pgcbooks.bsky.social

Oooooo first time seeing numbers like this over here in Bluesky…

Not sure how I feel about the “Beetlejuice” format of the Ontario leaders’ debate…

Thousand yard stare

The book-basketball crossover I love to see but I haven’t been able to find out: what book? (I’ve seen lots of joking answers)

WE'LL ALWAYS HOLD THE DOOR FOR EACH OTHER - VIVE LE CANADA 🇨🇦

It is WILD (&fun) that the best hockey players in the world are playing this hard & physically on their mid-season break. NBA stars are jogging around, having a laugh at all-star. McDavid is getting knocked on his ass, dudes are throwing knuckles. How NHL owners signed off on this I don’t get 😂.

This ain't just no hockey game

This game has the legit feel of the Americans or Canadians versus the Soviets in the 1970s. Two fights in the first three seconds of the game. Holy shit.

The bilingual version of the anthem has always been my favourite. Bien fait, Montréal ❤️🇨🇦

Happy Valentine’s Day, Tempo fam! 💜💙

Did not have the network of Sesame Street, This Old House, and Masterpiece Theatre on my “manufacturing consent for invasion of Canada” bingo card but here we are…

Noticing another wave of Canadians joining Bluesky For new arrivals, here are some starter packs listing hundreds of Canadian journalists you can follow on Bluesky right now 🧵 1/3 Please share and follow: bsky.app/starter-pack...

On IG, I wrote about Punished by Ann-Helén Laestadius (trans. Rachel Willson-Broyles). It’s a well-crafted story about Sámi children who attended “nomad schools” and the long shadow this cast over their lives. Thanks @simonschusterca.bsky.social for the arc. www.instagram.com/p/DFtM07fSek...

Getting way too much use out of the expressions “sounds Orwellian” or “well, that’s dystopian” these days

I….just……

Going to tell Trump this is Canada’s Fentanyl Czar.

Apropos of nothing, just a reminder that McNally Robinson is independent, 100% Canadian, and family-owned. We pay taxes and those taxes circulate into the local/Canadian economy. We employ Canadians and the two owners are Canadians. Just FYI

Important Canadian content alert

Incredibly impressed by CBC’s newscasters and reporters and the broad range of guests they’ve had on spanning sectors and geography. Grateful. Rosemary, David, Adrienne, and Katie have been on for hours and hours, consistently calm, informed, and thoughtful.

Mood.

My January reads…and the sweater I finished since knitting appears to be the only thing that will keep me off of my phone… #booksky

Meryl Streep did WHAT.

Still trying to wrap my head around living through an era in which some basic assumptions I had regarding the international order, the boundaries of acceptable discourse, etc are crumbling. Having a hard time with it, tbh

Knitting socks and watching the Raptors…anything to avoid thinking about…anything, really… #knittingsky #showmeyourknits
