Fantastic to welcome pupils from St Thomas's primary school in Kendal to Parliament today. We talked about whether I enjoyed being an MP, how I balance my time to spend most of it in Westmorland, and whether or not I had a party when I was elected!

It was an immense privilege to be asked to speak at yesterday's act of witness in Kendal as we marked the 3rd anniversary of Putin’s evil invasion of Ukraine. The event was moving and humbling as we stood with our Ukrainian friends and neighbours. Their fight is our fight.

Today marks three years since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. During that time many Ukrainians have been able to make a home here, work here and become part of our communities. However many are crying out for more certainty about how long they can stay. My letter to the Home Secretary👇

An absolute privilege to join the community in Kaber to celebrate this fantastic achievement. The rollout of high-speed broadband to these very rural villages was only possible because of the incredible teamwork shown by B4RN, the parish council and local residents. cwherald.com/news/joy-as-...

Over the past six years, I have led a delegation of hospitality and tourism leaders from Cumbria to meet with three different Immigration Ministers in Westminster to make the case for a Youth Mobility Visa scheme. So I’m delighted that the Government have today finally listened to our calls.

Only 9 and a bit weeks until the London Marathon so I did a bracing training run last night from Shap. I’m running to raise funds for Growing Well who support people on their mental health recovery journey through horticulture & the joy of the outdoors 2025tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/tim-farron

The family farm tax will force farmers to sell up - likely to large corporations and private equity firms who have no interest in taking care of our countryside. If we care about our food security and our environment, then the Chancellor must think again. www.lbc.co.uk/opinion/view...

Thanks for your support, @timfarron.bsky.social! Today MVM activists and MPs are taking part in our Valentine's Day action, showing their love for Proportional Representation. It's time to break up with FPTP and swipe right on a fairer system where every vote counts. 💜🤍💚

A breathtaking 16-mile training run around the Kent Estuary just now. I’m attempting the London Marathon to raise funds for the amazing Growing Well, who support people’s mental health through horticulture and the outdoors. Please send them a few quid: 2025tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/tim-farron

I wonder if JD Vance is planning to lecture his boss’s buddy Vladimir Putin on democracy and free speech. 🤔

A lovely visit to Patterdale Primary School with a cracking Q&A session featuring questions from the children on litter, speeding, and second homes. Thanks for having me!

Fantastic afternoon meeting with the heads of outdoor education centres from across the country at Patterdale Hall in the Lake District. The wonderful outdoor education these guys provide helps so many young people build a love of the learning and a love of the outdoors.

If we could power the National Grid from Reform hypocrisy then we’d be set for life. It’s not just their hypocrisy which is staggering, but the sheer stupidity of their policies which would undermine Britain’s energy security and make us far more dependent on Putin’s Russia.

"The quality of our waterways is deeply personal to me and to our communities. "So we will continue unashamedly to campaign for far better for our constituents and for our water right across the UK." @timfarron.bsky.social

Brilliant Q&A with Year 6 pupils at Kirkby Stephen Primary School yesterday. Great questions on farming, housing, adverts, Donald Trump, football, and life as an MP. Thanks for having me!

For many small farmers who have had their income cut by both the Conservatives and now Labour, they aren't able to receive Universal Credit because they don't earn the minimum wage every month. In Parliament, I once again urged DWP ministers to change this.

I also had a 15 mile run this morning. I'm not training for a marathon, I just saw an advert on the back of a bus that looked like the person was about to throw me a ball.

A 15 mile run round the lanes and crags of the beautiful Kent Estuary. I’m training for the London Marathon to raise funds for Growing Well, our wonderful mental health charity here in Westmorland supporting people to recovery. Please help them: 2025tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/tim-farron

Scandalous that customers have to pay through the nose for the shocking failings of water companies. Ministers have to realise this endless cycle of failure and customers paying for it will continue until Ofwat is replaced by a new regulator that will clamp down on these firms.

Appalling! That’s how river restoration campaigners reacted after discovering the Treasury is trying to seize the fines issued to water companies who pollute our rivers. I was proud to sponsor @timfarron.bsky.social amendment seeking to reverse this move. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

"Storm Éowyn may well have been the strongest storm to hit the United Kingdom in 10 years, it is sadly though a sign of what is to come." @timfarron.bsky.social

We're non partisan but bravo to Lib Dems @timfarron.bsky.social who did a great job of scrutinising the Water (Special Measures) Bill going through parliament tomorrow. Sadly the bill's about giving the failed regulation regime more teeth.Read our briefing below about dire status quo for nature.

Westmorland is getting a bad deal from the Labour Government when it comes to bus funding. New figures show that Lancashire gets £35 per head of bus funding, while Westmorland gets just £9. I've written to the Transport Secretary to ask why she thinks this is acceptable.

We know what a bad Trump trade deal would mean... Worse food, lower animal welfare and more pain for British farmers – just like the bad deals the Conservatives struck. We can't let that happen.

Dualling the A66 would reduce congestion, boost the economy, and help to limit the number of serious and fatal accidents which tragically are a regular occurrence on this road. Please back our campaign today by signing our petition and sharing it with your friends and family. www.wfelibdems.uk/a66

13 weeks to the London Marathon so I thought I’d better go beyond 13 miles. A beautiful run from Shap to Haweswater, taking in the Withnail phone box at Bampton from which, of course, I rang my agent and berated him in colourful language…

Started Saturday with fellow British Legion members at a fantastic veterans’ breakfast in Kendal, then on to Clifton for a very positive couple of hours on the doorsteps.

School visits are up there with the best bits of my job and today I had the privilege of doing two in one day. Thank you so much to both the Lakes School at Troutbeck Bridge and to Orton Primary School for having me and to the pupils for their brilliant questions!

Outdoor education can provide incredible experiences for young people - helping to boost their confidence, build mental resilience and create memories and friendships which last a lifetime. Proud to present a bill to Parliament this week calling for every young person to be given this opportunity 👇

Out with my A-Board in Kendal Market at lunchtime to hear about a range of issues including hospital transport, online safety for children, and support for businesses. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat!

The collapse of the long-term private rented sector into short-term holiday lets in the Lakes has resulted in many people not being able to afford to live and work here. Local planning authorities should be given the powers to limit the number of short-term lets in their communities.

This week I am putting forward an amendment to the Water Bill to force water companies to specifically reduce pollution in the waterways in our national parks. If Labour MPs meant what they said during the Election about protecting Windermere, then they must back this amendment.

A lovely weekend out on the doorsteps of Tebay, Sockbridge and Tirril. Lots of good conversations about all issues great and small.

"Labour inherited a very weak economy. And they can't afford to be prudent, they need to be ambitious." @timfarron.bsky.social

Today Ed Davey urged the Prime Minister to act urgently on the care crisis. Millions of elderly and disabled people are struggling without the care they need, while family carers and the NHS are overwhelmed. 2025 should be the year we finally fix this crisis.

This afternoon I joined campaigners from Westmorland and across the country, to present a petition to Number 10, signed by more than a quarter of million people, calling for urgent action on NHS dentistry. It’s time the Government got a grip and fixed this crisis.

I am campaigning to halt controversial plans by health bosses to close hospital wards in Kendal and Barrow. These decisions have been made with no consultation with the public. Please show your support for the campaign by signing our petition today 👇 www.wfelibdems.uk/stopwardclos...

Last night I voted in favour of a Lib Dem amendment to exempt GPs, hospices and other health & care providers from the Government’s National Insurance tax hike. The Government must focus on fixing local health services, not burdening GPs and care providers with even higher costs.

The Government have betrayed millions of pension-aged women, who were wronged through no fault of their own. Today’s heartless decision cannot be allowed to stand and I will be pressing the Government to give those affected the fair compensation they so badly deserve #WASPI

This is a stark reminder of just how important farmers are to the rest of the country as producers of food. The failure of both the Conservative and Labour governments is that their agricultural policies actively disincentivises the production of food. This is as outrageous as it is foolish.

As a Member of Parliament for a rural constituency, I am gravely concerned by the Government's decision to abolish the Rural Services Delivery Grant from the local government funding settlement. I am pleased to have signed @timfarron.bsky.social and @vikkislademp.bsky.social letter to the SoS.👇

How can Ofwat hold these polluting firms to account properly when it is hiring the very same people who are working for the water companies? Ofwat is a broken regulator and should be immediately replaced.

EXC w/Gill Plimmer: Ofwat has been criticised for employing consultants who also worked for water companies at the same time. Lib Dem environment spokesperson @timfarron.bsky.social says the water regulator is "broken" and should be replaced immediately. First 300 views free⬇️ on.ft.com/4gsED5g

Frequent and frustrating delays on the West Coast Mainline from Avanti are leading to passengers missing late night connections on to the Furness and Lakes Lines - with people left stranded at stations on cold winter nights. This is unacceptable. My letter to Avanti's Managing Director👇

Blowing a hoolie in Hackthorpe then lashing it down in Lowther village…but a very good reception on the doorsteps. Thanks for having us!

Ahead of Small Business Saturday it was great to meet with the Wagtail Kitchen at a reception in Parliament this week. Steve and his team produce high quality local food from their base at Plumgarth’s near Kendal. Go and check them out!

Grateful to the Roads Minister for meeting with me and my constituency neighbour Rishi Sunak this week to hear our case for why the planned upgrade of the A66 must go ahead. This project will boost the North's economy, reduce congestion, and most importantly, save lives.
