A reminder of this event on the German 🇩🇪 elections University of Birmingham campus this lunchtime. All welcome.

Fascinating and insightful book, #MythsOfGeography, written by my #UniversityofBirmingham colleague Paul Richardson

Congratulations & thank you to @sathnam.bsky.social for his insightful and much needed books Empireland and Empireworld. Although I would suggest the idea of legacies could be teased out a little more and his criticisms of Band Aid are a bit harsh, I’d encourage all to read these important books.

Striking (but not altogether surprising) statistics on Fico’s net approval ratings. Only his own party supporters have a clearly positive view h/t @medzihorsky.bsky.social

Another article of mine which I am posting on this site. #RulingDivisions was my review article on #Brexit. Among other things I make the point that Brexit can be explained by 3 slogans and 9 words: Take Back Control, Brexit means Brexit and Get Brexit done www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Insightful policy paper on #German relations with #Poland and the #CzechRepublic written by my talented PhD student Rachel Herring during a fellowship at IIR in Prague think.visegradfund.org/wp-content/u...

Moving over to this platform provides excuse to post links to publications of mine that haven’t garnered much attention. This article from 2021 in Securitas Imperii offers some reflections on time, #legacies and post89 transformations in #Czech #Slovakia #PostFederal www.ustrcr.cz/wp-content/u...

#Germany goes to the polls in February. For brilliant insights and explanations of the result join us on University of Birmingham campus on 26 February for panel featuring the terrific trio of Isabelle Hertner, Ed Turner and Julian Hörner. #CEDAR #BhamPOLSIS www.birmingham.ac.uk/schools/gove...

How can a party formed just a few months before an election win a third of votes? Pleased to see our article on #Slovenia ‘s 2022 elections assigned to latest issue of Europe-Asia Studies. A big hvala to my coauthors Alenka Krasovec and Dave Cutts. #NewParties www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Excellent, insightful and thought provoking presentation from @rita-abrahamsen.bsky.social and Michael Williams on their new book. Big thanks/Obrigado to @fromagehomme.bsky.social & @macvieira.bsky.social for organising #cedar

I've set up a new Starter Pack for colleagues in the School of Government at the University of Birmingham. Such a fantastic and diverse range of academics (and far more than I expected when I thought I'd procrastinate for just a few minutes setting this up...). 👇 go.bsky.app/U3UQxZf
