Whatever the answer it's clearly an open goal for a shameless plug: www.amazon.co.uk/Orderly-Brit...

1/2 I need for a metric for my health updates, and I've decided it's gigs. Went to see the wonderful John Shuttleworth last night. So, all very low key, with seating, 10pm finish, and easy journey on train. But about absolutely wiped today. So

@robtelneajai.bsky.social was a special guest on Liberia's state broadcaster, ELBC. She discussed the pitfalls of aid, why Liberia must move beyond so-called 'foreign assistance' & how the country can finance its own development. 📻Listen to the interview here:

This is a really important thread on data released by @childrenscomm.bsky.social about children in prison in England and Wales

Chill with Chicago’s Jeff Parker this morning

John Shuttleworth on low key fire at the Clapham Grand this evening

When you’re in Oncology and contemplating mixed news, there are worse views in the world. That really does bring joy

This morning, and for some time, Keith Jarrett’s Sun Bear concerts to accompany fresh coffee

The wonderful Arooj Aftab this morning, plus fresh coffee. Have a good week all

Blood Money - another belter from the Waits/Brennan catalogue - plus fresh coffee this morning. Bliss. Happy Sunday all

Truly terrifying. What's happening to live music. Cultural vandalism at its worst

Still pretty jaded this morning, so it’s a bit of cool Bill Evans. Just about up to fresh coffee too

Long and tiring day at hospital yesterday so having an especially quiet one today. The perfect excuse to listen to lots of music, starting with Tricky’s magnificent Maxinquaye. Have a good one all

Wonderful Messthetics & James Brandon Lewis concert tonight. Gigs are now very difficult for me so huge thanks to the 100 Club for organising a chair & being supportive. I’m not very rock & roll these days sadly. But the music helps!

Most musical styles have been represented in past months of doing this: jazz, country, reggae, classical, blues, soul, good old guitar-based rock and roll… Conspicuously absent is heavy metal. Generally don’t listen to it. There are a few albums I’ll make an exception for. This belter is one

Well that was some introduction to Match of the Day - wonderful shots of Goodison and Wednesday’s derby, all set against the Farm’s All Together Now. Well done BBC. #MOTD @the-farm.bsky.social

This morning it’s delightful stuff from The Delines. Amy Boone’s beautiful voice married to Willy Vlautin’s short stories, otherwise known as songs. His novels are well worth reading if you haven’t. Sees the best in people and in blue collar America in particular

Missed this from a few days ago (thanks, Clinks, for the tip-off) Useful @theifs.bsky.social overview of trends in justice spending in England and Wales since the early 2000s ifs.org.uk/publications...

Welcome to BlueSky @stevetombs.bsky.social

Bit of early 90s Nick Cave this morning. Something of a departure from earlier Bad Seeds albums with a slightly happier Cave

Almost decided to devote myself all day to rewatching the last derby at Goodison Park (thanks for the suggestion Bernard). But some music is always necessary, so today it’s the much underrated Pere Ubu and their wonderful Songs of the Bailing Man. Cracking

When thinking about to listen to, sometimes the simplest answer is to go to old favourites. To my lasting regret I didn’t see this tour (from memory there was only one uk date) but at least we have this belter to help us hear what we missed

This is the type of communication that the football club should do much more of. Fascinating to hear from Thelwell, what he's been doing and what he hopes to do. Impressive.
