It seems that if your phone does not have an NFC scanner (mine doesn't) it's impossible to have a verified account on LinkedIn. Odd. Anyone know a workaround?

Can we get a bsky feed of everyone on Nebula?

This application form has "expected annual salary" as a required field. I have no idea what to put in it. I was underpaid at my previous job, but would be willing to go for the same again to get employment, but underselling myself may be counterproductive. It's a game I don't know how to play.

one great mystery of our age is how the only way to motivate rich people to work is to give them loads of money for no reason but the only way to motivate poor people to work is to take away loads of their money for no reason

I've been thinking a lot about that bumper sticker which says "everything looks like a conspiracy theory when you don't understand how anything works" and folks it's pretty obvious to me that the people in power right now have absolutely no desire to understand how anything works.

“Mrs Edwards said she used to bang it with her trowel to remove earth after gardening.” Glorious story.

If JRRT was right about anything, it was evil being a dull, flat, nihilistic shitlord devoid of an interesting personality.

I genuinely don't think that Putin has any leverage over Trump. I think Trump is just enough of a pathetic weakling that he'll do anything Putin asks him, because he admires Putin, because he wants to be Putin, because Putin is a dictator and Trump desperately wants to be. (Sad.)

Was going to watch a new Nebula show, Abolish Everything. Saw it was an hour long and decided to leave it till tomorrow, because I need an early night. Then spent over an hour catching up on Matt Baume videos on YouTube instead of actually going to bed. No real regrets. Should Matt be on Nebula?

Does anyone still make this poster? I want it on my wall.

After winning the presidential election in 1980 one of the first orders of business for Republicans was ordering federal programs to withhold assistance from queer people. Times sure have changed

Okay, I know the world is falling apart and we all might die soon, but I just discovered Jet Lag: The Game. Dude, it's so good. Described as Amazing Race + Taskmaster. It's on Nebula and YouTube. I swear... If you haven't seen it, it will absolutely hold back the abyss for a little while.

Mapquest knows what's up gulfof.mapquest.com?name=Gulfs

404 continues to absolutely kill it.

Any indie filmmakers looking for a home?

I think it's both depressing and telling how many Americans (including many members of the elite media) view "masculinity" basically in terms of being an abuser and are excited and thrilled to sign up themselves and others for more abuse.

The American Right has made substantial progress on its attitude towards sexuality; it will now embrace and promote men who assault either women OR other men.

I remember being in a hotel bar once. The bar TVs were playing Justin Bieber songs all evening. Silently. The actual speakers were mostly playing Adele. It was odd.

I was blocked by someone while in the middle of writing a reply to their post. Odd. I then realised that my previous post (since deleted) contained a typo which is a slur. From context, clearly not intended as a slur, but perhaps there are some automated scripts which block people who post slurs?

Probably UK S9 is my most rewatched Taskmaster. I also love most of the British panel show circuit: QI, WILTY, 8OO10CDC. For quiz shows, Only Connect is the champion. And, leaving the UK for a moment, there's Jet Lag: The Game, which takes some cues from Taskmaster but is also very different.
