Couldn't be clearer that Democrats aren't a party in the way that Republicans are a party. The GOP has an ideological project. They build power to accomplish specific things. The project of the Democratic Party is getting Democrats reelected. 80-90+% of Congress is, so it doesn't take much effort.

If we must live under capitalism at least we can rest assured the shelves will always be stocked

The real lesson of Zuckerberg and Musk is that some people are just born with loser stink on them that no amount of wealth or power will ever scrub off

I think it’s important to remember that a real conspiracy is the reason Epstein was in jail. When the true story involves elites conspiring to do something so evil, it’s not a huge leap to think they may have conspired on something else.

Class solidarity baby!

Oops looks like #Denver plows missed a spot or an entire lane

Watching the 1941 “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” and boy it’s awfully cavalier with some extremely dark subject matter…

My new favorite pundit thing is when they ask, “But will the political consequences be too great for Trump to do XYZ?” What consequences? He already won a second term! You think he cares what happens to congressional Republicans?

every single picture is more shocking than the last

Folks doing this *in cities* baffles me. Cities intrinsically have a lot of people and are constantly evolving. It’s so weird to think that should all come to a screeching halt for you.

Harris/Walz built their entire campaign around trying to reach this voter in particular

Just another example of how woefully unprepared we are for the future of climate change www.nytimes.com/2025/01/04/o...

There are some exceptions but for the most part people don't want to drive around in a super embarrassing car

Just a dusting in Denver so far. Took a calm little ride to get a haircut this morning.

Took an intentionally slow ride (to avoid sweating and to enjoy the views) down to DU this morning.

Louisa May Alcott really nailed the incel mindset (in describing Laurie): “…feeling that all women owed him a kind word because one had been cold to him.” #booksky

Snowboarding didn’t work out, so instead I went 2/2. #BikeDenver

I’m going snowboarding tomorrow for the first time since high school and I’m a little nervous I’m going to die but mostly excited to be back on the slopes.

Peaceful e-bike ride to drop off library books and pick up dinner at Pepper Asian Bistro.

Will I ride my bike every day of 2025? Likely not, but so far I’m batting 1.000.

It’s 2025, we’re deleting Goodreads.

This year I read fewer books (45) than I did last year (52), but it was still a great reading year. The highlight was probably my intro to Donna Tartt, with both “The Secret History” and “The Goldfinch.”

Was recently reminded of this July podcast interview with Adam Liptak and it is clearly the worst abortion take of the year, no contest

It just occurred to me that even if Trump actually does all the worst most fascist things he’s promising, all the surviving presidents will probably still attend his funeral.

If capitalism worked for the people we wouldn’t need over 1000 military bases around the world squashing its opposition

I want to read a book that feels like this

Holiday ride with Mom in Monument. Can still feel the elevation!

this is so on brand it’s incredible

I still can’t believe Coke went live with that AI ad that literally misspells Coca-Cola. Imagine if a human made that mistake. But because it’s AI (and thus drastically reduces labor costs) they let it slide. So stupid.

Out on the bike again

I was told #Juror2 was going to be good but it was in fact not. #filmsky boxd.it/88h4L1

Another beautiful day in Denver. Gonna spend the day biking to places to read; rinse and repeat. Will share some of it here.

Credit where credit’s due: #Denver is doing some things very right when it comes to the 16th Street Mall. Can’t wait for this space to be fully reopened next year.

Twin Cities friends! Sign it!

OK I do kinda miss this part of winter riding in Minneapolis/St Paul. View of the river when it’s snowing can be really something.
