I was a full-time photographer, but got hit badly by #sepsis in 2024. 7 wks in ICU, 4 in a coma, multiple organ failure. Now re-learning how to walk so I can get back into the woods again. 👉 Free woodland photography tips: https://www.timsmalley.co.uk

Happy New Year! 🎉 Wishing you an amazing 2025. Reflecting on 2024, it was tough with my battle with sepsis, but your love & kindness made it positive. Very grateful for all your support.❤️ Here’s a photo from 1/1/24 in KL, Malaysia, a reminder that storms bring rainbows.🌈 #photography #newyear

This made me laugh enough to swap my Christmas jumper out. I hope you’ve had some cherished time with loved ones. 🎄✨ #photography #christmas

Wishing you a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year!🎄 It’s been a tough but life-affirming year - my battle with sepsis & the 9wks in hospital changed my perspective. I’m excited to get back into the woods with my camera in 2025. Thanks for your support! ❤️ #photography #trees #nature

‘Winter’s Spark’ A flash of golden light in one of the local ancient woodlands I love to explore at this time of year. #photography #nature #woodland #trees #landscapephotography

'Enigma' A magical moment less than a mile from home. The late sun broke through the trees as they held their breath to share a brief secret. With rare fog & perfect light, it felt like nature pressing pause. No travel is needed; magic is on your doorstep. #Photography #Nature #Woodland #Trees

'Pinstripes' Another image from back when I was shooting on 4x5. I saw the snowstorm coming from behind me, so I set the camera up as the snow passed through. I had time for a couple of sheets of film before the magic was lost. #photography #woodland #trees #nature #landscapephotography

Autumn, or Winter? For me, it encapsulates both autumn & winter. The golden leaves on this giant ancient oak tree (look at the railings for scale) are typical of late autumn in Herts, while the snow is a welcome extra not typical of the time of year. #photography #trees #woodland

'Hanging On' A characterful, large ancient oak tree with some remnants of autumn colour on a cold, frosty winter's morning. I've got many images of this tree, but I hope one day to have a set of nearly identical images through the different seasons. #photography #woodland #landscapephotography

"An Old Friend" This ancient oak is an old companion. I made this before my illness & hope to revisit it soon. It stands in an ancient woodland I lived near as a child; it's near my parents' home. How old do you think it is? Do you have a favourite tree or place to revisit?🌳 #photography #trees

'Changing Seasons' One of those wonderful mornings when the seasons are changing - an overnight hoar frost while the remnants of autumn are still around, catching the beautiful glow of the morning sun. #photography #woodland #nature #trees #autumn #winter

'Birch Bow' This is an image that I made a few years ago - back when I used to shoot on 4x5. Again, nowhere special... just a local woodland rich with opportunities to explore creativity. #woodland #landscapephotography #photography #trees

I haven't been out to the woods for nearly 9 months, since about a week before I was struck down by #sepsis. Below is one of the last pictures I took pre-illness, on a beautiful early spring evening. This week, I made a big step forward. 🧵/1 #recoveryjourney #photography #trees #woodland #mindset

I love a line of Lime trees - particularly in the depths of winter when the branches are bare and the fog is thick. #Photography #Nature #LocalLandscapes #Woodland
