DeLauro uses her opening statement to tear Russ Vought a new one

Harvard researcher Dr Sarah Fortune was only 2 years away from creating a vaccine that could have saved the 1.25 million people killed each year by tuberculosis. But last month, she received a letter telling her that the $60 million grant funding her research was being halted by President Trump.

Donald Trump sued me for racketeering, I won and did not back down. Donald Trump tried to have me investigated, I did not back down. Donald Trump named me in executive orders, I did not back down. If your lawyers are so afraid that they are cutting deals with Trump, you have the wrong lawyers.

“Over the next five weeks, we expect the U.S. Supreme Court to release decisions in all of the remaining cases. That means 34 decisions in fewer than that many days.” Read @chrisgeidner.bsky.social on the new month and SCOTUS:

I'm Dr. Annie Andrews. I’m a pediatrician, not a politician. But either way I know how to handle people who are full of sh*t. Today I am announcing my campaign for US Senate to replace Lindsey Graham. Share this if you're with me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8wM...

Lindsey is just a big baby, so there’s that as well.

It is easy to forget that when Paul Weiss and the other law firms that capitulated to Trump cut their deals they thought they would be viewed as savvy dealmakers. Now they look like craven fools and gutless cowards.

“The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." — 1797 Treaty of Tripoli, unanimously ratified by the US Senate, signed by President Adams Comments like Johnson’s are what happens when you ban books instead of reading them.

1. Neither Canada nor Greenland belong to the US. 2. Deporting people without due process violates the Fifth Amendment. 3. Ukraine did not start the war with Russia. 4. "Don’t you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States as President?” Welker asked. “I don’t know,” Trump replied.

They wanted to pass this evil budget to take away healthcare from millions earlier today. It’s still stuck in the rules committee cause House Dems introduced over 500 amendments and we are lined up to debate on them. Delaying is important. Keep up the pressure on these Congressional Republicans.

House Republicans are having the final hearing for their Big Ugly Budget at 1 AM! They know that cutting healthcare for MILLIONS to fund billionaire tax cuts is unpopular. House Democrats are pulling up, even those not on the committee. We don’t care what time it is, the opposition will fight this.

This is HUGE. For those wondering why due process is essential for EVERYONE. This is why!

We will not win the battle for democracy if those in the pro-democracy movement prize caution over taking risks. We cannot permit ourselves to be deterred by the inevitable defeats and public criticism that are inevitable along the long path of restoring democracy.

Devastating. The cowardice and the betrayal of an incomparable news brand.

Sure, let’s dissect the mental and physical acuity of the former president who sought to make lives in America better while minimizing the reality of a deranged arsonist dismantling the country we’ve known and loved. What a failure to meet this moment.

It’s 2 am and we’re still marking up massive cuts to Medicaid. While their constituents are asleep, Republicans are trying to take away health care from 13.7 million people to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. They want you to tune out. Don’t ⬇️ x.com/i/broadcasts...

Remember the name Rob Sand. He beat a Republican incumbent in 2018 for State Auditor & is the only Democrat serving statewide elected office in Iowa right now. He just launched his bid for governor of Iowa. He is a rising star & worth paying attention to.

Guess who’s guest-starring on the next episode of "The Simpsons"? Tune in this Sunday, May 11, at 8pm (7pm CT) on FOX — or stream it Monday on Hulu. (Look for the episode called “Full Heart, Empty Pool.”)

Honestly, in a list of the top 100 outrages of Trump’s 100-odd first days, this is at best an honorable mention. Still, it highlights something about how Trump’s mind works—and the underlying moral issue goes to one of the deepest touchstones of human decency: the respect we owe to those in grief.
