Exactly why I've been writing, podcasting, and damn near screaming about using the right language. The mainstream media is failing us SO badly right now. Stop. Calling. This. Shit. DEI. This is (re)segregation. This is racial purging. Cleansing Black people from positions of power.

"The #Sahel remained the most lethal theater on the continent for the fourth year in a row. There were an estimated 10,400 deaths linked to militant Islamist violence in the Sahel in 2024. This comprises 55 percent of all related fatalities for the continent." africacenter.org/spotlight/mi...

How many federal workers would DOGE need to fire to make up for Musk not paying his fair share of taxes? Answer: 677,000. That's 44% of the entire non-DoD federal workforce. Again, this power grab is not about the budget. It’s about politics.

USAID’s waiver for 'life-saving' aid got headlines. But funds still aren’t reaching the people who need them. "Even programs with waivers are still frozen, according to people in more than 40 USAID-funded groups, bc the payments system used to disburse funds to orgs has not operated for weeks." 1/2

All reporting on the USAID stop work orders and dismantling that mentions "humanitarian waivers" needs to be clear: "waivers" are PR empty rhetoric. Not a cent of US funds has gone toward USAID'S lifesaving humanitarian work since mid-Jan. Without money, there is no waiver, there is no saving lives.

UPDATE: Nearly 100 migrants, recently deported by the United States to Panama where they had been locked in a hotel, were loaded onto buses Tuesday night and moved to a detention camp on the outskirts of the jungle, several of the migrants said. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/19/w...

"When someone’s home floods, your neighbors can tell. When its roof has been blown off by wind, when it’s been destroyed by fire, you can tell. But when you are suffering [from heat] to a point when you are dying, no one can tell, your home looks exactly the same.”

The city "worked hard to eliminate spaces of fear, listening closely to women's needs and concerns in the sphere of public safety."

So-called "waivers" for life and death aid have failed to be implemented and have not stemmed the devastating consequences of the US abrupt stop work order to doctors, famine workers and others worldwide, according to @devex.com comprehensive, heartbreaking reporting: www.devex.com/news/the-mes...

Black Lives Matter.

“The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my fucking firing. I make $50k a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great for the American taxpayer.”

Peter Marocco’s turbulent tenure during the last Trump administration sheds light on his current efforts to destroy the American foreign aid system from the inside out. Current and former officials see it as a campaign of retribution against those who opposed his earlier work. 👇

North east Syria. April 2024. This was at a refugee camp near Raqqa. Nearly 7000 families received emergency food parcels every month. I just got confirmation that today that this whole programme, USAID funded, is cancelled. 600 of my Syrian friends are now unemployed 😢

demolishing USAID "is a human tragedy" that may be "a test run [against] a lifeline for poor people [in the US].. makes it particularly important that Americans speak up for humanitarian assistance internationally.. this is where our interests and our values converge" www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/o...

There are mass global layoffs in carework jobs where USAID-funded governments, INGOs, & local NGOs provide healthcare, schools, safety nets, social services, emergency response, especially in nations where IMF privatized or wrecked these sectors w austerity. These were good jobs. Is anyone counting?

Watching steady careers built on study and time dissolve, discarded, nobody noticing the upheaval, as we work in places with people who already faced complete upheaval of their lives and predictable worlds, who have seen the fickle foreign aid come on strong and evaporate in broken promises before

Today’s quick update [Feb 12]: - RSF attack Zamzam IDP camp for the 2nd consecutive day, causing widespread damage & continued displacement. - 5 people reported killed and 30 injured in yesterday’s attack. #KeepEyesOnSudan

If you’re looking for Sudanese orgs or families to support, please check my linktree: linktr.ee/bsonblast A selection of Sudanese orgs/initiatives and family funds that is periodically updated. #KeepEyesOnSudan

USAID watchdog fired after issuing report on current risks edition.cnn.com/2025/02/11/p...

Today’s quick update [Feb 11]: - RSF launched an attack on Zamzam IDP camp in Elfashir, where 500,000 civilians reside. - “A large RSF force infiltrated deep into Zamzam camp […] opening fire randomly on gatherings of displaced people.” #KeepEyesOnSudan

Trump’s sudden suspension of US foreign aid is like walking into a hospital ward and just pulling all the plugs out of the sockets without looking to see what they're attached to first. www.hrw.org/news/2025/02...

"The USAID budget is less than one % point of the U.S. GDP and a fraction of the biblical call to tithe 10% of one’s income, Czerny noted. “'All we can hope for is that God’s people and the people of goodwill will help and protect those vulnerable people who are suddenly made much more vulnerable'”

The post-Amartya Sen wisdom is that we only see famines in conflict now, wielded as intentional weapons of war, because we, globally, redistribute food. As of 2 weeks ago the greatest distributor suddenly stopped. Where are we headed.

#USAID The list btw is enormous. African healthcare, agriculture, education, all decimated by 'Structural Adjustment' now losing aid funding.

Today’s quick update [Feb 8]: - SAF airstrike on a neighborhood in Zalingei, Central Darfur; 3 children reported killed and a number injured. - RSF attack on Um Dom, Khartoum; 4 civilians reported killed, as well as looting of community kitchens and stores. #KeepEyesOnSudan

System's not broken, it's working as designed: they are eugenecists establishing master race + laborpool via extermination of medically vulnerable & enclosure (Apartheid) of poor & BIPOC. Targets (health, aid, disaster response) & speed is designed to kill as many as fast as possible before reversal

For decades, the right has been obsessed with apartheid South Africa as a way to mourn the end of formal segregation in the US. With neo-segregationists now in power, it’s no wonder they’re opening the doors to white South Africans, using racist conspiracy theories to justify their actions.

The immediacy of humanitarian & medical aid stop was designed to kill people day 1 even if later blocked by courts or ever restarted. Eugenicist, racist eliminationist mass murder is underway: permanent harm as fast, as much as possible www.nytimes.com/2025/02/06/h... www.reuters.com/world/halt-u...

❗#USAID Temporary Restraining Order issued: "All USAID employees currently on administrative leave shall be reinstated until [Feb 14] ... no additional employees shall be placed on administrative leave before that date. No USAID employees shall be evacuated from their host countries"

One more window into the Trump/Musk recklessness in shuttering USAID: The NYT identified 30 clinical trials that have abruptly been cut off, in some cases with participants with experimental products or medicines in their bodies and no recourse. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/06/h...

Utter madness. 36 million people. 👇 At least 500,000 tons of American-grown food meant for food-insecure people worldwide are stuck in ports and warehouses due to Trump administration freeze on USAID. It’s enough to feed >36 million people and valued at ~ $500 million. www.devex.com/news/us-grow...

"Elon Musk probably has a net worth greater than that of the poorest billion people on Earth." At the the altermondialiste protests against neoliberal privatization, we used to chant, "It's bullshit, get off it: the enemy is profit. Disease and starvation will not be solved by corporations." Still.

“'Nowhere in my ordination vows did I ever have to say, "I will only care for U.S. citizens,’” Mayer says. 'I am a pastor of the world. My faith calls me to it.'"

"Ever harsher deterrence fails because border walls and fences do not stop people from moving for long, they simply divert them to other routes. ... History has shown that, over time, drivers of migration are stronger than borders."

Food aid was once at its core a price control for US farmers to sell surplus to the govt to donate, undercutting small farmers. In the last decade, aid shifted: now we assess markets & largely give cash where local food is available to buy. THIS aid ⏬ is for the famines where there is NO OTHER FOOD.

Here are just a few of the humanitarian impacts of #USAID being held up by the Trump administration today:

At some point someone will arrest one of these goons for doing something illegal and then we will learn why their first act was to put the militia back in place. They are creating crises to which they will respond with violence the moment they need or want to.
