Dear Sir/Madman This week I have successfully: 1. Tumbled out of bed 2. Stumbled to the kitchen 3. Poured myself a cup of ambition 4. Yawned and stretched 5. Tried to come to life Thank you for your attention

Was a huge realisation for me when I moved on from the 'I can't change the world!' hopelessness to deciding to do little things that might just make it a bit better. I work with asylum seekers. I can't change the Home Office or the hostile environment, but I help where I can - and we laugh a lot!

The push for fairness and equality didn't go 'too far' - and nor did progressives get their tactics wrong. What changed was that a tiny number of white men didn't like how the world was changing - and spent billions changing it back.

Congratulations! I followed the link to see if I could vote for you. Doesn't look like it, so I'll do the traditional finger-crossing.

If you they really need to seize phones they have to give a new one in return. No one can survive now without a phone

NOoO00oo! Please do not seize phones! A phone is vital for emails/documents/maps/translation tools/contact with home... We do not know how to access phones for people arriving in hotels without and it is SO HARD Please do not take away people's phones!!!

As a hotel outreach worker I have noticed, too, that obtaining proof of support has changed from a simple email to what has, at times, been a PAP. Such a waste of time - surely the ARC could be enough proof that someone is on section 95 with no right to work and so is entitled to legal aid?

I keep saying this, but *nobody* has talked to the guys who were in the hotel. No witness statements, no victim impact statements, nothing. They were bussed out to another city where I now work with them and they have videos and stories that no one has asked for. Why not? Does their voice not count?

Never seen the Home Office move so fast. But never.

'Still too early' though to say if HTS are terrorists or not 🤦‍♂️

Maybe...should be a personal decision about wanting to go back or still feeling unsafe. Many have experiences there they may not be ready to face yet. Huge rush (never before seen in the Home Office!) to start changing the rules.

Never seen the Home Office move so fast on anything, ever. Surely it is an entirely personal decision whether someone wishes to return or still feels unsafe?

Absolutely agree. Let's hope the Home Office also takes their lead from ordinary Syrians and respects their decision on if and when they feel they might be able to return to their home.

I totally agree - I hope people are given time and helped to make their own decisions. It is never easy going back and a lot of people have made huge efforts to keep looking forward and build a new life. I hope it will be a personal decision and not a Home Office one.

The events in Syria, though, are also 'seldom if ever' and is this Home office concerned about being cruel? Also, judging from reactions of people I work with in hotels, I am wondering if we might see interest in voluntary returns soon. Not like people have been made welcome here...

Absolutely. So tired of HO rules coming down from above with zero understanding of the reality for so many people. Just today a service user explained he has to 'move on' but UC is not in place yet: how will he survive? I have no answer. Foodbanks?
