If you didn't read our comics explainers about the Project 2025 agenda that's in full swing right now, they're sadly still relevant!

Okay, I cannot recommend 5calls.org enough. Enter your address and it will find all your reps (federal and state). AND give you a list of issues to call about AND which reps to call about each of them AND a little script for each, in case it's helpful. They have an app, too.

Not only that, THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT. Overwhelming you shuts you down. It hurts your ability to resist. Take care of yourself. Focus on the topics you have capacity to. Listen to the people who help you think this through. Take breaks. Listen to your body. And find community. Most important.

Trump can authorize this "don't you dare call it a" concentration camp. The money to build it has to come from somewhere. Tell your members of Congress not one cent for mass detention camps.

If you’ve been directly impacted by a pause or cancellation of an NIH study session, we @forbes.com would like to talk to you

Here's a great free resource from Immigrant Legal Resource Center! There are PDF files in several languages, including Chinese, Arabic, Haitian Creole, Spanish, and Ukrainian, that can be downloaded and printed off. www.ilrc.org/red-cards-ta...

Just an FYI for people who may be new to the book banning stuff, when your books are banned it does not mean you’re on “the right side.” It means that your art (and probably you too) is being targeted by right wing extremists for erasure. It means you are being silenced. It’s NOT GOOD.

Disabled and senior people constitute the highest number of deaths in climate disasters like wildfires and flooding due to poor planning and lack of investment by the govt. Something I wrote about wildfires in Northern CA: sf.curbed.com/2018/11/13/1... #LAFires #LAFirestorm2025

I had a walk today and thought about the relationship between civility, discomfort, and abuse. Some of you know that “civility” is one of my hard “ugh” triggers. This thread will explain why.

As a librarian, if you restrict your own child’s reading based on your family’s beliefs, glad to connect you with what you prefer. But WHY would you allow randos to restrict what YOU or YOUR kids want to read? VOTE TO REPEAL THE BOARD! laist.com/news/politic... #FREADOM

Good Timezone Friends time to check on the status of your hydrating beverage Do you want to take a moment? Sip your beverage (if that's not a pleasant idea, maybe refresh it) & Take a screen break. Do you have physio exercises to do? need to do a mobility minute? (do you gotta pee?) Dance break?

We had a lot of 2024 wins despite state leaders arguing in court that our public libraries and schools are “government speech” that can be viewpoint censored. 2025 will likely see more of these arguments, and we are uniquely prepared to meet this moment. Follow @freedomreadproject.bsky.social

Writers, Academics, Colleagues. This is a PSA. If you're putting together a year-end list of stuff that you're proud of, feel guilty you did not write such a list, or worry you're not worthy of That List. 1. You are. You did GREAT. 2. Take that list, put on some music and UPDATE YOUR RESUME.

Here are the anti-library & pro-censorship bills already prefiled for the 2025 legislative session across the US. It's your job to keep tabs on these, write your representatives, & speak up about the dismantling of public institutions of access + democracy. wellsourced.substack.com/p/the-pro-ce...

Legit, delete any ovulation tracking app. Any period tracking app. Use paper and pen. Do not trust any electronics.

This is an incalculable loss but Nikki Giovanni lived a grand and interesting life; that will always be a gift. May she rest in power.

HBO/Max released a Nikki Giovani project ‘Going To Mars’ earlier this year. It won an Emmy. If you haven’t seen it, it’s still available on MAX.

Scientists have already investigated this. The result? The doctor pushing this junk science had his license revoked for spreading deadly lies about vaccines.

As of yesterday booksellers at The Strand are on strike. Solidarity with them. Don’t cross the picket line, even virtually.

Imma need some of you to think about thriving out of spite. I had big plans for 2025 and I’m definitely not gonna pre-derail them for likes of Elin and Tromp. I’m getting more involved. Loving harder. Writing hornier. Having more fun. I’m gonna be so kind to my neighbors, bitch.

If you have an idea for a memoir and are looking to jumpstart it—or are already underway and want some support to maintain momentum or figure out next steps—this class is for you! We'll meet two Tuesdays/month over Zoom, 7-9pm ET. Apply by 3/14. Please share w/ anyone you think might be interested!

It is disappointing that @safety.bsky.app keeps unsuspending Singal, when he explicitly stated he's here to target a group who helped build this site into what it is. Not even pretending good faith. He's here to ruin the vibes and try to normalize harassment of trans users. This is fucked up.

I too am willing to tag @aaron.bsky.team or @jay.bsky.team or @pfrazee.com or whoever to remind them that this became a buzzy, cool new platform pretty much entirely on the backs of trans people leaving X, and letting Singal stay is like unleashing a plague of locusts on their most valuable crop

It’s so interesting to see these urgent exhortations to reestablish decorum. I have not seen evidence of a “coarsening” of American society. If anything, the opposite: I’ve seen thousands of individuals asserting their humanity and protesting the indignity of the system UHC profits from.

Given how the ACLU has represented Palestinian students and their right to protest and congress trying to pass a bill that would revoke 501c3 status without due process for nebulous "support of terror," this takes on new meaning under Trump. They could seek to disband the ACLU.

DECEMBER WORKSHOPS 🧵 Here’s what we’re up to for the rest of the month after kicking things off yesterday with two really amazing events. As always, all upcoming workshops can be viewed at workshops4gaza.com/workshops
