Birds went

An answer to the question circulating this week about whether to use US flags at protests

Oy vey

Judging by crowd noise there’s been an change of venue, the game is at the Linc

God bless America

surprising amount of woke sentimental commercials. culture not quite cooked.

This is a really, really good feature.

I’ve been really skeptical of “x, the everything app” but if they make it the only way to know what the government is doing and they shift all social security and gov contractor payments through it, ok! Everything app! Sure!

Here is what Democrats can do: -we live in a crisis-driven media ecosystem -a sense of crisis results in diffuse public attention - normally spread across many communication channels - focusing on a single problem, bringing massive pressure to bear -Dems can help create a sense of crisis

Trump has the lowest net approval rating at the start of a presidential term since modern polling began in 1953. His rating of -1% in a longstanding Gallup poll of new American leaders is worse than the record low of 0 per cent he set at the outset of his first term in 2017.

if a major politician held an emergency rally about the current ongoing coup by the richest man in the world, I think people would go to it. Shit is well and truly fucked. I can think of a couple of people who should do that right now.

The GOP blamed everything that happened for four years on Biden and it got them a trifecta. Politics is dirty, it’s not a place for pedants or fact checkers. Try to pin whatever you can on the President and his allies, I’m sure as hell not going to stand in your way.

Not gonna lie I did kinda expect our Democratic politicians to have something like a plan to counter the 920-page detailed fascist blueprint that was published in April 2023

Seems like there may be a lack of takers for the OPM Agree to Lose Your Job program? This evening HHS employees received a follow up email informing them that the emails from OPM "are legitimate and can be trusted," in case anyone was wondering.

a seemingly universal sense, from dems to journalists to pundits, that because trump campaigned on doing illegal, immoral, harmful things it's only fair that he be allowed to do at least some of the illegal, immoral, harmful things unimpeded, he's earned it, and it is melting my brain

Tommy Tuberville, the dumbest living Republican, single-handedly blocked over 440 military promotions for 10 months. Dems need to just get dumb af and start saying "no" to everything. www.nytimes.com/2023/12/05/u...

every single one of trump's staff has spent their entire adult life in nazi groupchats and think tanks funded by weird billionaires and they have literally never intereacted with the world outside of that system before this week

I have been and still am pretty bearish on the viability of third parties in any system like ours. But there's a huge, huge opening for anybody who can use, eg, the WFP or Greens' ballot access and just say "Actually, I think Donald Trump is a fascist and we should fight back." Because the dems are💤

we have a president with a tenuous grip on small legislative majorities who is out of the gate with a flurry of dramatically unpopular orders and who has just demonstrated his weakness on the international stage. if i were an elected member of his domestic opposition, i might try to draw real blood.

This is so goddamn funny

a sign of a healthy and functioning democracy is that i'm getting emails from my kids' schools assuring me that the teachers are dedicated to protecting my children against the federal government

95% of video games: "If you quit now, unsaved progress will be lost!" Okay and... when was my last save? "There's no way of knowing." Didn't I save literally 2 seconds ago? For this exact reason? "I have no idea what you're talking about. Game saves are a mystery to me, the game you saved."

It's good that there's a 25% tarriff on imported coffee now. This will incentivize people to purchase American coffee, grown in the New Jersey coffee forests

Just hit me why AOC is so good and brilliant at being the adult in the room with all the trashy losers making terrible choices around her. She used to be a bartender.

Okay I'll admit I burst out loud laughing at this one

People who fly the Confederate and Nazi flags have a great way to clearly signal "I identify with these shitty racists from the past." I sorta wish we had a similar option that unambiguously said "I identify with the US that beat the Confederacy and beat the Nazis and we'll beat you too."

"Do you think it is a good or bad thing if the President relies on billionaires for advice about policy?" Bad: 60% Good: 12% Neutral: 28% AP-NORC / Jan 13, 2025 / n=1147

this is so obvious it seems utterly ridiculous how few of them are going for this lane a whole lot of people hate Trump and if you’re looking to win a primary - and it sure seems wide open right now - getting out in front of opposing wildly awful and unpopular shit seems a no brainer

feels like at this point the entire Trump administration could carve swastikas into their foreheads and the media would be all 'let's not rush to judgement'

“Reddit is now top tier for properly responding to a Nazi salute” is a completely batshit sentence to be blandly accurate.

I think there are a lot of people out there who were sort of vaguely fed up with “woke” but are absolutely not ready to return to a society where you give Nazi salutes on television and spew loud racial slurs in public the administration is staffed by 8chan groypers but the public isn’t

Have people forgotten just how vain and approval-obsessed Trump was the last time he was President? Am I the only person who remembers anything from 2017-2020? He tried to overturn the election because he couldn’t handle that people didn’t like him!
