More Lowrys. This time in Liverpool

Today is the 180th birthday of prominent Victorian tenor Edward Lloyd. He retired in 1900, but was persuaded to sing at the coronation of George V in 1911

And the art exhibition in the Peter Scott is worth seeing too. My favourites were the Lowry and the street scene of Workington

Fantastic to see the Great Hall at Lancaster University full for the visit of the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. It’s just like the good old days!

OTD in 1918 Parnellite MP & leader of the Irish Parliamentary Party (IPP) John Redmond died aged 61 following a stomach operation.

Crikey Harvey Elliott! This is the potentially the greatest heist since the Great Train Robbery. Has anyone seen Phil Collins?

Pathetic from Robbie Savage. So presumably he wouldn’t have watched the great wins of Southampton and Sunderland in yesteryear? #606 #BBC5live

Yeeeeeehhhhhhhhttttts 1-1

Trump, Vance & others either have forgotten or never knew that Zelensky signed a ceasefire agreement with Putin in 2019. Three years later, Putin launched his full-scale invasion. So, signing another ceasefire with no security guarantees feels like suicide for Ukrainians.

Never review a Michael Gough decision #IndvNZ

How riled would Trump and Vance have been if Zelenskyy had turned up at Downing Street in a smart business suit?

“It’s how we play” FFS #EngvSA

Born on this day was Shakespearean actor and author Constance Benson 1864-1946

#Letteroftheday is back. And Warwick Hillman of Pinner [is it really a place?] is the winner. I salute you sir.

Great anticipation ahead of Andrew Menzies conducting the Hallé in their Vaughan Williams programme at Kendal

Leicester has never lost by more than 5 goals in home game. 3-8 against Aston Villa on January 2nd 1932 and a couple of other times with the same margin. There’s a chance Brentford could better that tonight.

PSV ahead in the tie. Kom op jongens!

Brilliant goal by Ivan Perišić to put PSV ahead on the night. Kom op jongens!

The game at Villa is a thriller. Great finish from Tielemans 1-1 but awful miss from Jota

Crikey Rúben Dias defended that ball with the poise that I showed towards the end of my career trying to take a catch over my head. Different sport, similar outcome. Mountain to climb for City

Imagine Ron Saunders reaction if his Villa team had gifted the opposition a goal like that 🤷‍♂️

WH Lung at Kanteena. I could swear that it’s Ryan Sidebottom on guitar

Formal Sppeedwear at Kanteena in Lancaster. No I don’t know what their name means either

Moyes was available when United appointed Amorim. #justsaying

My prediction of a 4-1 win for Chelski isn’t looking good

This would have made a great final #ManCvReal

Great goal from Manchester City. DRS needs a coffee though.

Who failed to check Mbappé’s boots? No paella for him/her tonight.

To Liverpool for the Phil

Big fire in Lancaster City Centre now. Student accommodation has gone up in flames.

If you missed it go to BBC Sounds. The BBC Today programme interviewer completely revealed Farage as a wannabe emperor with no clothes. Sorry if that image spoils your breakfast

The late Victorian period saw improvements in public health and food production. Daren was a competitor to Hovis producing brown bread at a⬇️huge flour mill in Dartford, but when they hit problems in the 1930s they were bought out by their competitor. They had branched out into chocolate biscuits.

The brilliant Bug Club smashing it at the Ferret in Preston

Williamson and Shapps criticise decision of Princess Beatrice and her husband to name their new daughter Athena as "woke nonsense" and demand she be renamed Britannia Margaret Hilda. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

63 years ago today the great violinist Fritz Kreisler died in New York aged 86.

Naturally I’m disappointed to watch Morecambe concede the opening goal at Bradford. But is the Sky Commentator Dominic Cork?

On this day in 1908 Cardinal Richard, Archbishop of Paris died aged 88. 27 years later his spiritual writings were approved by theologians.

Do today’s footballers have a weekly hair styling session before the game?

Crikey.

Brilliant picture from 1932 of JB Priestley in cricket whites. Scary to think that then it was only 33 years since WG Grace had played for England which is exactly how long it is today since IT Botham last lined up for his country.

Strictly in single file!
