Movie you've watched more than 6 times, no LOTR, Star Trek or Star Wars.

Authoritarians love "Gen AI" because it - Sounds confident even when factually wrong - Broadly conforms to & reproduces their biases, off the shelf - Lets them create bespoke realities (text, audio, moving & still image) which agree w/ their biases - Degrades trust in knowledge/evidence/expertise…

Ahhh. Beautiful. Another bullet dodged I see.

I'm usually the last person to opine about Kids These Days and the media created for them but watching the Minecraft movie (I know, I know) makes me wonder. It's been a trend for a while to trade sincerity for bathos. What's the effect of that on kids?

When I first played CATHERINE in 2012, some of the conflict felt inscrutable to me because it was rooted in the birth-rate crisis Japan was having at the time. Without understanding that, the rest of the story makes less sense. Suddenly interested to re-play now that America has caught up.

How many bots do we meet without knowing? What if someone in your discord has been a bot the whole time and you only find out when you arrange to meet and they don't show up and you ask them why they ghosted you and they say what are you talking about I'm right here, now, I'm always here I'm --

Don't hit Amazon when indie sites and Thriftbooks will get you much further and usually have the same used listings as Amazon

All right next up is THE WORST SUMMER OF MY LIFE by @michelleheller.bsky.social. First time reading it in its final form but I already know it's fun as hell.

Hmmm I am finished with BOAR WAR and now must choose my next book from the stack. Decisions, decisions.

"You gotta run. Run toward them." Never Leaving is out now from @infestedpublishing.bsky.social ! A haunted house story about a family fighting back to keep the only affordable house they can find. Enjoy a tale of love and chainsaws! bit.ly/3Xu1HJz

I feel like I am no longer capable of writing with the door closed. To my detriment

Submit to our lit mag, we're open for the first time in forever, we pay $150 for Art that references Taco Bell. We're more prestigious than the Paris Review which no one has even heard of.

Grateful to I Heart Sapphic for including A GAME IN YELLOW on their Week of April 20 Books to Prorder Now article. Lots of great gay books to come this year 🤩🌈 A GAME IN YELLOW in particular hits August 12 from @sagapressbooks.bsky.social 💛 iheartsapphfic.com/2025/04/20/w...

When I wrote The Hound, a big goal was to investigate the sexual politics of "haunted family" movies by centering a lesbian couple so that the "skeptic and believer" roles didn't fall along gender lines or family roles. I think it was mostly successful there.

Oh hey look, we got a visit from the Easter Bunny.

More Black horror recommendations after watching Sinners!

Wait hang on are we now discoursing about whether or not we should discourse? Have I got that right? y'all I am TIRED, I'm gonna go make some deviled eggs or smth

There is absolutely tremendous value to "own voices" literature and I vastly prefer it to the alternative where people's stories get appropriated and profited on by those with institutional power. But I sure don't love how it's created an expectation about all storytelling being autobiographical.

Hypothesis: The Eraserhead baby is the same species as ET, if he'd been able to grow up a bit.

Need a t-shirt that reads "The sexual politics in the film I'm about to show you are probably indefensible."

Personally, I think it should be front page news for at least a month if a sitting US President is using falsified evidence to try and deny due process to a man who has committed no crime, but that’s just me

Man, when did the notes on random Bluesky posts become identical to the comment section of a news site?

"Ahh, okay. So fairies give you depression and witches give you hemorrhoids. That makes sense." - discussing folklore and medicine with @comicrelief.bsky.social

Lessons horror movies have taught me: - moving somewhere for a "fresh start" never works. - watch the road. Bad driving causes horror movies. - believe your kids when they tell you weird shit is happening. - the psychiatrist probably wants to fuck your wife.

Ok well that was terrible. Onward to the next film: The Hole in the Ground.
