I’m very much looking forward to this, although my children apparently couldn’t imagine anything worse!

Apparently there is still (a little) time to pick up the bargain of the month!

Now’s the time to grab that bargain!

🕊️ This month, we’re joined by @tlgrady68.bsky.social to discuss Burying the Enemy—a history that might surprise you! 💀 Axis war dead buried across Britain? 📅 Join us LIVE TONIGHT 20th Feb, 7:30pm! 💡 Exclusive to £5+ History Ragers—upgrade now: 👉 www.patreon.com/hist...

I am on a very mini (call it select!) London book tour in March, at @ihr.bsky.social & @nationalarmymuseum.bsky.social discussing my forthcoming book on the enemy war dead: yalebooks.co.uk/book/9780300... Do come along! IHR = tinyurl.com/u479jp9j and NAM = tinyurl.com/mvpt2jrf

Fancy studying for a fully funded PhD? Of course, you do! We’re currently advertising a studentship in ‘war, commemoration & international relations’ in collaboration with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Drop me a line & we can discuss different approaches: www.chester.ac.uk/study/resear...

I’m not sure why this comes to mind this week, but should anyone want to loan our exhibition on interwar fascism just let me know. It consists of 13 drop down banners and accompanies the source volume that Roland Clark and I edited: www.routledge.com/European-Fas...

‘New way of bearing witness’: one of biggest Holocaust archives goes online

Extremely disappointing, if hardly a surprise. Not much of a future - and certainly not a sustainable one - promised here.

In the @theguardian.com today, Partridge Green in West Sussex and a tiny mention of the German war dead. I have to latch onto any link, so in case you didn’t know, there’s much, more on the enemy dead coming very soon: yalebooks.co.uk/book/9780300...

I am using this book for my Twentieth Century Europe class again this semester. And as I am prepping it and my assignments, its breadth and depth of primary sources documents showing how fascism grew in many different European countries is amazing. Thanks to all the chapter authors!

Reading about all the concerns after Trump's victory, what strikes is an absence: I read about the possible end of democracy, about deportations and incarceration of migrants, about NATO and Ukraine. I rarely read about what Trump means for Climate Change.

After taking in many archives & cemeteries across the UK & Germany over the last few years, there’s almost a result! My new @yalebooks on the enemy war dead is on its way soonish (March 2025). I’ll post all about it as the publication day nears, but for now: yalebooks.co.uk/book/9780300...

Straight off the ferry from Gothenburg and with time to „Kiel“, just managed one final visit for the enemy war dead project.

Off to Brussels this evening for some final book research in Frankfurt later in the week. The train does at least give plenty of quiet time for reading through the draft manuscript, at least that’s the plan #buryingtheenemy

Good open discussions ⁦‪⁦‪at the RUSI with David Lammy and others about the future of commemoration and great to be involved in the broader afternoon conversation too
