Medicaid covers mental health care, including therapy and support for depression and anxiety, crucial during and after pregnancy. It funds postpartum screenings and treatment, aiding recovery. #WellnessWed

Just over half of U.S. voters support keeping ICE off K-12 school grounds, according to a new poll by The Century Foundation and Morning Consult. "Access to a free, safe, and quality public education is a cornerstone of our nation," says TCF's @alevazquezbaur.bsky.social via @axios.com.

A3: Without Medicaid, 1 in 5 non-elderly women would lose access to essential care, face impossible choices between paying for care or meeting basic needs. Women without coverage delay critical screenings, struggle to access reproductive services & enter pregnancy without proper care. #WellnessWed

A1: Almost 1 in 5 people 50-64 relies on Medicaid to access health care. This is vital for older women who are not yet eligible for Medicare and are full-time caregivers or don’t have job-based health insurance. #WellnessWed #MedicaidMatters

A7: Medicaid has a long-term and multi-generational impact on mothers and families. Healthier families may lead to healthier individuals who can get an education, work, and earn more money. #WellnessWed #MedicaidMatters ccf.georgetown.edu/2023/08/28/m...

Untreated mental health conditions are a leading cause of maternal mortality. Cuts to Medicaid would make it harder for new and expectant mothers to get lifesaving care and treatment. #WellnessWed ccf.georgetown.edu/2025/02/19/m...

Medicaid expansion is good for moms and babies. It has been linked to larger decreases in maternal and infant mortality, greatest benefits for those at highest risk. #WellnessWed ccf.georgetown.edu/2025/02/28/h...

A5: Medicaid pays for 65% of births to Black mothers. Research has shown a reduction of Black maternal deaths in states that have expanded Medicaid. www.cbpp.org/research/hea...

A4: States who have expanded Medicaid, have seen a decrease in coverage gaps for pregnant women. #WellnessWed #MedicaidMatters ccf.georgetown.edu/wp-content/u...

Without Medicaid, many people would be uninsured. Research has linked being uninsured to having an increased risk in chronic health conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, all which can adversely impact women who want to become pregnant. ccf.georgetown.edu/2025/02/28/h...

@georgetownccf.bsky.social’s @edwincpark.bsky.social joins @npr.org to explain how federal budget cuts will lead to millions losing Medicaid coverage. The math doesn't add up otherwise. Listen: www.npr.org/2025/03/10/1...

@aoc.bsky.social: "They're saying cut $880 billion from the Energy & Commerce Committee. I sit on that committee. Almost the entire budget that Energy & Commerce explores is Medicaid and Medicare. There is no way they can make their math square without enormous and devastating cuts to Medicaid."

Everyone deserves access to health care. Extending Medicaid to people reentering society after incarceration reflects our values and commitment to equity.

Republicans in Congress have suggested big cuts to Medicaid. But what exactly is it? KFF Health News' Sam Whitehead discusses Medicaid’s history and role in the U.S. health system. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcZJ...

In the federal worker purge so far, Trump + DOGE have terminated public health experts who were: * Protecting kids from harmful tobacco products. * Keeping mothers and babies from dying. * Upgrading the donor organ network that saves critically ill people. www.propublica.org/article/trum...

We dive into the confusion and chaos caused by Donald Trump's ridiculous health care policies, from a funding freeze that shut down Medicaid portals in all 50 states to the nomination of an unqualified, unfit, and utterly confused cabinet nominee in RFK Jr. w/ @protectourcare.org.

If Medicaid costs are increasingly shifted to states, will Americans face higher state taxes or reduced access to care? See Sara Rosenbaum and @abarkoff.bsky.social in @healthaffairs.bsky.social for insights on what lies ahead for #Medicaid in budget reconciliation.

Roses are red, violets are blue. Cuts to Medicaid will harm 80 million children, pregnant women, elderly, low income adults, and disabled people. #healthpolicyvalentines

Preventing public health agencies from communicating with the public will not make America healthy again. This will leave us in the dark in the middle of respiratory season, with serious ongoing concerns about everything from bird flu to cases of whooping cough.

Connecting the dots: once again no similar pledge to protect #Medicaid from cuts + House E&C Chair Guthrie saying health care will be "a big part" of reconciliation all point to intention of GOP Congress to make massive cuts to Medicaid this year if they can get them through the House. #healthpolicy

Medicaid Facts: #Medicaid serves a vital countercyclical, economic stabilizer role during recessions. When unemployment rises and state tax revenues fall, federal Medicaid funding rises in response as more people become eligible if they lose their jobs & job-based coverage. #healthpolicy

As House Republicans make clear they want to impose draconian cuts and caps on Medicaid this important new piece from @centeronbudget.bsky.social illustrates what is at stake. Medicaid is the backbone of health care covering 4 in 10 kids/births + is the primary payer for people in nursing homes.

In the past month CMS has approved 5 Medicaid waivers to provide reentry supports to individuals leaving incarceration, bringing the total to 16 states. Other major areas of activity include approving services targeting social determinants of health & behavioral health. For more, see KFF’s tracker:

Federal CMS has approved Florida's waiver request to expand its CHIP program to 300% FPL. This expansion has been long delayed b/c the state sued to avoid federal law ensuring that children in CHIP get 12 mos of continuous coverage. The suit was dismissed. www.medicaid.gov/medicaid/sec...

Medicaid Facts: 59.5% of American Indian/Native Alaskan children relied on #Medicaid for health coverage in 2023. Medicaid is also a vital source of funding for the drastically underfunded Indian Health Service system (at a federal match rate of 100%). #healthpolicy www.kff.org/other/state-...

And unsurprisingly the incoming GOP Congress is indicating it will pursue draconian #Medicaid cuts just like those in Project 2025 including block grants/per capita caps & gutting the ACA Medicaid expansion. #healthpolicy ccf.georgetown.edu/2024/06/17/p...

Medicaid Facts: The public overwhelmingly opposes capping federal #Medicaid funding (as under block grants & per capita caps) per KFF polling. 71% oppose (and 86% of Medicaid enrollees oppose). 53% of Republicans/Republican-leaning independents also oppose. #healthpolicy www.kff.org/medicaid/pol...
