Arrived this morning - I love the matt cover with shiny titles. Excellent work @joebrownlondon.bsky.social 👌

How lovely; a rail replacement bus. Makes you think about how iconic the BR double arrow symbol is though.

It’s a bit long (apologies) but complete, unedited, speeches are here for the naming of 465908 at Charing Cross. Not that I have included chapter points in the description of the video so you can skip to your favourite bit! youtu.be/LzE-owmkvYg?...

My video of 465908 in NSE livery, taken earlier today: youtu.be/RZJLjbam-Ok?...

Oh dear, that’s the last of this season’s sloe gin 😢

Bench not in use? I beg to differ!

A follow-up audit of Steamworks at Glynde station was required to sample the newly introduced food offering. My colleague sampled the ham, eggs & chips whilst I went for the beef bourguignon with mash and veg. Both £10 on the specials board and both were excellent.

321448 (the "Demonstrator") arriving at Colchester with the 15:52 Ipswich to London Liverpool St service on 31st August 2018

11th Nov 2024: Had lunch at “Don Valdés” restaurant, 2da del Oeste, e/ C.Central y 1ra del Sur, Placetas, Cuba. I had the house special, Hamburguesa Don Valdés which came with a side of chips (1700 pesos, about £4.25). Drink was extra - 220 pesos, about 55p

Interesting to note that, due to the landslip between Gatwick and Three Bridges, Gatwick Express services from VIC are terminating in platforms 5/6 at Gatwick rather than running through to Brighton. That was the whole point of building plat 7 - to allow 5/6 to be dedicated to GatEx

Did anyone else watching Call the Midwife spot that when Sister Monica Joan “fixed” the TV by bashing it with her walking stick, the programme she was watching was Doctor Who? Jon Pertwee doing his eyebrow acting! Third part of his first story “Spearhead from Space” I think. Ties up with 1970.

A few years ago I did an A-Level photography course at East Sussex College in Lewes. I made a book of all my images submitted as part of the course. These are a couple of the photos I took as a homage to Lee Friedlander, plus one of his originals.

Due to my train running very late it was terminated at Rye, allowing me to sample the delights of the Café des Fleurs on the station platform. The tea and Bakewell slice were delicious!

Another good reason to visit the Steamworks Pub at Glynde station - they have started serving food!

It appears that repairs are in progress to the Polegate High Street Lido (sink hole) near the level crossing. Trains still running which is all I’m concerned about!

As expected - what a complete w@nker! www.politico.com/live-updates...

Urgh! Due to problems on the BML the 0637 from PLG to VIC is only going as far as HHE, and about 25 late. Going to HHE and changing would be pointless so I waited for the 0708 to VIC running 6 minutes behind. Of course, that train is a class 387 with ironing board seats 🤮
