"why do vegans eat foods that look like meat" is perhaps the most annoying and stupid argument made towards vegans that I can think of. Here's one of the possible answers...

Chicken farmers often say things like: "if my chickens weren't healthy and feeling good, they wouldn't lay eggs and be productive." This is Ellie, when she arrived with us in 2023, rescued from a farm. Her leg is broken, she is in pain. She can’t walk and is anemic. Yet she just laid an egg.
