Final DEEPEN project meeting today in Dublin with great feedback from advisory board members

polisky cpesky I have 2 open positions in my team Goethe Uni #Frankfurt: I am looking for - a PhD student - a student assistant. You should be interested in comparative politics, ideally with a focus in public policy, comparative political economy, welfare research, or education/social policy.

Thanks for the inspiring meeting. The first preliminary results are very promising!

📢 I’m happy to finally share my job market paper “Beliefs about the Gender Pension Gap”! You can find the paper here: drive.google.com/file/d/1Ykw5... And a thread below.

Interesting article, but it is an Anglo-American view on this topic. European pension funds often behave differently (thanks to union involvement) and largely stress social factors of sustainable investments. Ultra-low state bond yields can hardly finance pensions in timed of high inflation rates.

For a presentation, I looked again at the ResPOG data to see how many reforms in Germany are implemented (ignored) despite two-thirds of the population opposing (supporting) them. In 42% of these cases, the Bundestag is not responsive. If we lower the bar to 55% support, the share is 47 percent.

Interested in using tools like #GitHub, #Markdown, #Docker for a more efficient and reproducible research workflow? If yes, my new course at UCL @ioe.bsky.social and NCRM may interest you. Registrations are open. Thanks to @pengzell.bsky.social for coordinating! www.ncrm.ac.uk/training/sho...

Very happy to see this polisky published: doi.org/10.1016/j.el...! I use age-period-cohort analysis with data from all 20 German federal elections (1949-2021) to answer 2 questions: 1. How has party support shifted across generations? 2. Has the effect of education on voting changed across gener.?

Great and inspiring talk by the wonderful @nataschavanderzwan.bsky.social . Thanks for visting Linz!

We're hiring! 4-year PhD position in Methods focusing on comparative politics, University of Salzburg. Application deadline: 1.11. More details: dropbox.com/scl/fi/di8k2... Please share! polisky

New article in Journal of European Public Policy by Juan J. Fernández, Karen M. Anderson and me on ‘What drives pension issue salience?’. Pension reforms of any type – retrenching or expanding – increase pension salience. Unpopular (retrenching) pension reforms do not!
