This headline is trash, though. Trump administration races to blame DOGE because Trump administration, of which DOGE is a key part, fired too many people. Subhead: The Washington Post went alone with their charade, allowing the Trump administration to act like DOGE is not them.

Some of y’all can’t handle 2 high agency males going at it and it really shows

The latest satellite images show 3 major developments: a large Russian troop buildup in Bryansk Oblast, damage from recent drone strikes in Kyiv, and unusual military activities at Taiwan’s Wangan Airport. All three have one thing in common - they were generated by AI. 🧵Thread:

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

We did not have any of this drama when Joe Biden’s clone was president.

Mount Etna's celebration of the 20th Anniversary of "Revenge of the Sith" is a bit over the top.

Hell with that. I did not learn and train my fingers to use Alt+0151 just to throw away my EM dashes because of AI.

It'd be nice if the Press would stop mailing it in so often on language and framing. The Scorpion's admin isn't even pretending to care about authorized or unauthorized. Way more people will see this headline than the details in the story, so stop validating their use of blatantly untrue language.

I was not prepared to wake up today and see an email about the *20th* anniversary Serenity 4k Steelbook Edition. Seriously, wtf?

Just because Bluesky has become the void I choose to shout things like this into: Courts are not preventing Trump from doing his job when they strike down his tariffs; they are pointing out that declaring tariffs is not one of the responsibilities of the job he was actually hired to fill. …

yes. they literally blame higher education for a social order that doesn’t give unquestioned deference to people like themselves

Describe your work in a gif.

Outsourcing copy editing of someone who writes for a living to a machine that, by design, writes like the median writer across all sorts of media is a terrible idea. The point of copy editing is to make the writer's own writing better, not to make it indistinguishable from any other writer's.

I have never joined in on a "save this show!" campaign, but by golly I'm gonna do it this time.

Well, this blows. Show was really finding its way. On the other hand, now I *really* don't give a shit about letting my Amazon sub laps.

In honor of the legend.

My favorite George Wendt story: a friend went to meet him for drinks at a bar and a fan came up with two pitchers, gushing over Wendt, thanking him, and gifting him the two pitchers. Friend said "That happen to you a lot?" "Every time. Now are you gonna help me fucking drink them or what?" Legend.

When Cheers was a Big Deal, I was a skinny kid who didn't drink & had few friends. Norm was none of those things; he was my goddamn hero. A hilarious, easy-going, everyman who everybody liked. Thank you, George, for bringing him to life. "Got room for a beer, Norm?" "No, but I am willing to add on."

GenAI: A good way to get got since 2022.

HONK!!!

Spent too much time on this

It really does, even now. I also never noticed until this moment just how much the 0:15 to 0:40 mark is just straight up the opening to Jaws. Glorious.

Younger generations have no idea why this excites us G-Xers like fucking catnip. This was the beginning of the presentation of the 8 O' Clock movie in the pre-video store era. The premiere slot. When this thing came on, it meant you were gonna see some shit. No commercials. Unedited. It was MAGIC.

Forget the rest of it, the new Superman trailer had me at Lois Lane asking legit reporter questions to challenge Superman about what it means to do good in the world. Fuck yes to all that. Inject it into my veins.

“Javy is unstoppable.” Another great call by Jason Benetti in the year (checks notes) 2025. The famous final scene from Detroit:

Did not have Javi Baez Renaissance on my 2025 Tigers bingo card for this season, but hot damn is it fun watching him tee off on pitchers again.

It also remains deeply untrustworthy for anything of consequence. A person is almost always better served doing the work themselves than trying to analyze and fix whatever mid-level dreck AI delivers. Anyone who relies on it to offload their own thinking is just waiting to get got.

I'm resisting the barrage of new Pope posts with everything I've got, but this is /chef's kiss/ to the editor in me. Irresistable.

The version of Harrison Ford from Shrinking right now. giphy.com/gifs/AppleTV...

I got the best teaching evals of my career for a large course last semester— along with three teaching awards— after rebuilding my intro class around in-class handwritten essays. I simply do not believe that this is unsolvable or that students don't care about actually learning to do their work.

Today's theme can best be summed up by Kirk in Search for Spock: "The word . . . is 'No.' I am therefore going anyway."

the Pistons play like an extremely talented true freshman

I swear to god, these days, I am increasingly the befuddled version of Gandalf.

Finishing a 550 page edit after over a month of constant work put into it.

Took a quick glimpse at options for some 4k Bluray and CD shelves, and I can only tip my cap to the crew at StandsAndMounts.com on their current U.S. shipping policy. Well played.

Genuinely feels like this, right now. Relief. Elation. lfg

I have now typed the mispelled word "langauge" about 50 times today. No exaggeration, and it's doing nothing to instill confidence in my faculties.

It's a truism of good editing, regardless of the medium. Also, this sounds too smart for anything I'd ever say, so I must've stolen it from somebody.
