"The greatest love of all, is easy [for a robot] to achieve. Learning to love yourself [and to love how much your audience loves you] is the greatest love of all." With apologies to Whitney Houston, I have the greatest love for this piece by @srtrzinski.bsky.social

The original and still the best. This cat is way past grumpy.

El Capitan displays a massive American flag upside down—the traditional signal of distress or extreme emergency.

Things are better here in Aotearoa than they are in much of the US right now, but we still have charismatic frauds and queerphobia hate. Destiny Church runs on copypasta "Christian" nationalism, and incites its downtrodden and exploited church members to violence. This will not stand.

I think most actual use of generative AI comes down to this: it allows users to impose the costs of communication on the recipient. People seeing AI art bear the cost of looking past the glitches. Teachers reading AI essays have to evaluate slop. Everyone bears the cost of error-prone mediocracy.

So, now this wunderkind <ahem> has access to all sorts of classified data (don't worry, I'm sure it's read-only 🙄) from the US nuclear weapons arsenal. Do you think they're trying to blow themselves (and the rest of us) up? www.newsweek.com/doge-luke-fa...

Former Republican Jewish Coalition spokesman and now chief lobbyist for the American Jewish community as CEO of the Conference of Presidents, William Daroff, says the American Jewish community is just delighted with Donald Trump's Israel policy. We're not.

Hey, regarding Amazon disabling USB downloads: It can be totally bypassed with a download of free software, and one can strip out the DRM, by following the instructions at the link. Then the files are yours to do with as you will, as they should be.

Because it actually has to be said these days: Nazi punks, fuck off!

I want to talk about my move from Substack to Ghost for a second, and what it's been like working with a nonprofit tech company that actually lives its values. Especially if you're a writer still on Subtack, please read. 1/x First of all, about the org: They are a nonprofit, I just met employee +

I've been following Ro's work since 2006? 2007? It's awesome stuff, all of it, and I love they way they've grown and matured as an artist and a human bean, over a period of time that I've been figuring out my own bean-self.

Nursing a take that the major Silicon Valley firms can be understood as organized crime syndicates and perform some of the same functions as the old ones used to — money laundering, feeding addictions, skirting regulations, political influence.

Y'all gotta get comfortable talking about pornography and defending its right to exist and for people to look at it, even if you don't (but especially if you DO).

Bravo, asshats. They only meant to run or end the lives of other people, but now that they're in danger (of a nuclear catastrophe!) they want to "un-fire" the people who were keeping them (and, incidentally, all of us) safe. 🤬 www.nbcnews.com/politics/nat...

This is not a drill. Download and convert any kindle ebooks you care about NOW (especially anything queer and/or smutty).

I don't even know where to start with RFK Jr., so why start with this brainworm: (in/voluntary?) commitment of folks on... antidepressant and ADHD medication... to years of farm labor (inherently remote) without "tech" (communication). www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

a thread about one of my favorite digital game artifacts: the cockpit view. i love these huge interfaces because they stand at the intersection of three of the most important game development goals: solving for technical limitations, storytelling, and information design. 1/

Johns Hopkins is doing a long-COVID survey and apparently is having trouble finding controls -- people who haven't had COVID. If this is you, consider giving them some clicks. @violetblue.bsky.social thought you may want to boost. covid-long.com
