Congratulations on this important survey showing utter failure of Australia’s pharmacy vaping scheme - hated by pharmacists & smokers/vapers. Simon Chapman swore scheme would improve soon lol! Pull other leg! @jamomartin.bsky.social @edjegasothy.bsky.social @greencate.bsky.social

Have you seen our Policy Principles yet? Transparent principles make us publicly accountable - you can see a policy is a poor fit and highlight an issue! Politics shouldn’t be about playing games, it should be about envisioning and creating a better future! www.fusionparty.org.au/policy-princ...

Things can’t change if people keep voting for the same-old options every election. Alternative options can’t get big enough to be voted for if people don’t get involved in politics in between elections. We need “busy” people who know how things work to be involved - it can be better. #auspol

There’s a difficult conversation we need to have about activism. Awareness Activism is great, I’ve done plenty of it, and it’s excellent for raising awareness of poorly understood issues, this is fine and well. However, there’s a catch 🧵

"If zero-emissions nuclear replaced fossil gas as the grid’s back-up technology even as we continue our renewable build-out, Australia’s climate goals might be the beneficiary." johnmenadue.com/nuclears-fat...

The most common objection we get to nuclear energy is, "What about the waste?" We’re always happy to tell people that we ❤️ nuclear waste. Small volumes, safely stored and managed, and naturally reducing over time. But the best part is, it’s not waste at all - watch to find out why.

Nuclear energy is the most dangerous form of energy ever invented - right? What if everything you thought you knew about nuclear energy was wrong and fixing the climate crisis required you to rethink what you thought you knew? Former Extinction Rebellion organiser Joel Scott-Halkes explains.

Here's the question we submitted for @albomp.bsky.social ahead of tonight's #qanda. It didn't make it onto the show but share if you'd like to hear his answer.

A Survey of energy sector professionals has found that 67% believe nuclear will have a role in Australia's energy mix within the next 25 years with 78% saying they wanted to see it happen, with reliability & environmental benefits cited as the primary reasons for supporting nuclear.

Australia's anti-nuclear movement still hasn’t learned that The Simpsons isn’t real. Their latest stunt featured a giant inflatable three-eyed fish, straight out of the show. In the real world, nuclear energy is a proven source of clean, reliable power that can help us achieve our climate goals.

Less guilt, more electrification. But let’s be honest, no one wants to feel guilty for simply trying to live their best life. WePlaneteer Rob explains how we can maintain high standards of living while tackling climate change by electrifying everything with abundant, clean energy.

From the article: "But Seismology Research Centre chief scientist Adam Pascale said the possibility of a Fukushima-like disaster occurring in Australia was slim. "You can certainly engineer a facility to be earthquake-safe," Mr Pascale said." Why the fearmongering Minister?

Chatting with John August, it was fascinating to explore our ideas about whistleblowing protection and how this will play out in improving people's lives 🌠🗳 youtu.be/gCXdGcbPEBc

I'll be running for Wills in the upcoming federal election 😃 I'm keen to create a more empathetic, sustainable and innovative society, starting in Melbourne's north🌈

One of my favorite charts that explains radiation dose and effects. Nice way of showing just how much it takes to cause damage. #nukesky #nuclear

Folks, we are in for a real treat with this one. @smartereveryday.bsky.social has kicked off a new series on nuclear energy! His series on nuclear submarines was an unprecedented look into how the navy does this stuff. Now he's focusing on civilian power! 🔌💡

Japan will aim to increase the use of nuclear power, dropping a decadelong policy of reducing dependence on the energy source and reversing curbs initiated following the 2011 Fukushima meltdown. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/business/2024/12/17/economy/japan-energy-mix-policy/?utm_medium=Social&utm_…

Not all nuclear advocacy is the same, and lumping it together isn’t helpful for constructive discourse. Fusion Party Australia takes a science-driven approach: supporting renewables & repealing barriers to nuclear fusion research. #auspol #fusionparty #fusion #climaterescue

Japan sees nuclear and solar as the cheapest energy sources in 2040⚡️ Source > www.enecho.meti.go.jp/committee/co...

🌿 Fun fact: Finland quietly proved the "nuclear vs wind" debate wrong. Instead of choosing sides, they built both, achieving a much faster clean energy growth than similar-sized Denmark who went all-in on wind. Excluding nuclear does not make your transition faster 🇫🇮⚛️🌬️

Anti-nuclear campaigners are making some devastatingly good points in their new report 😭

"People don’t cheer for chaos when they feel like justice is possible. But right now, what options do they have? Of course Mangione gets turned into a meme hero—it’s not him they love; it’s the idea of someone finally fighting back.”

The current debate about nuclear energy is being wrongly framed as Renewables vs. Nuclear, when in reality, it should be about Renewables and Nuclear vs. Fossil Fuels. We have a straightforward message: lift the ban on clean, reliable nuclear energy. Petition and full video linked below.

You’re likely to see a lot about nuclear energy today as the Coalition finally releases its full plan. While economic modeling can be debated, here are some undeniable facts about nuclear energy. 🧵
