Grief is a weird thing. For some people, the grief of loss hits immediately but for me, it takes time, in this case over a month. Last night I finally mourned my sweet Molly. I hope wherever she is she feels loved and happy and has plenty of pats and snuggles. She was the best of dogs.

The restoration people finally got real with me and told me that they were not coming until all the freezing weather and snow ends. But they are still going to come. I appreciated their honesty. I would not like to dig trenches under the house on my belly in the mud and ice either.

I'm going to the flatlands and an orthopedic clinic today. Maybe if I were younger I'd give it longer but I want to know just how damaged my knee is and what needs to be done. It really hurts and is discolored now. And yes, I am short tempered!

First thing in the morning I look out the kitchen window at the rhododendron to see what the temp is. The more pointed downwards and curled the leaves are, the colder it is outside. Nature's thermometer. That's why you find them planted next to old places in the Appalachian mountains.
