no mercy against slavers

If you wrote a story about a regime so comically evil that it literally snatches people from their citizenship interviews, you'd be accused of over-the-top imaginings.

A 14-year-old American boy and his two friends were gunned down by Israeli soldiers Sunday night. Their largely American village in the West Bank is wondering why Trump and the U.S. government have said so little about the killing of one of its citizens.

File impeachment articles that are just direct quotes from the Declaration of Independence

It is legally impossible to deport citizens. This is not deportation. Removing citizens to foreign prisons, knowing to a certainty that they will be subjected to treatment that violates the U.S. constitution, doesn’t deserve any label that connotes legal legitimacy.

important context about the concentration camps in el salvador:

Wrote a thing at how the Bukele/Trump meeting, full of absolute nonsense and bullshit in support of out-and-out fascism and despotism, is yet another dark day in America. www.techdirt.com/2025/04/14/t...

More serious point abt today's White House event. Bukele is actively and publicly conspiring to violate American domestic law and orders of American courts. Trump won't be in power forever. The next Democratic administration won't be like the last one.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

i support any action that leads to the people in this video being put in front of an international criminal tribunal

El Salvador is a contractor providing the United States with a paid service. The idea that we couldn’t get anyone they’re holding back with the snap of a finger just by asking is so ludicrous on its face, it seems less like a real excuse and more like a test of how much shit the courts will eat.

had a little hunch that maybe this bukele guy wasn't exactly freely or fairly elected. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_Sa... 84% of vote seems impressive, but also a sign of the type of electioneering that happens in 3rd world countries...

Because I’m crass, I feel like this contextualizes todays news conference theweek.com/business/eco...

There’s a reasonable description of much of what is happening today that is pinned almost entirely on the curse of preventive measures — that people forget the things they were successfully preventing.

"luxurious dish among the wealthy" - in 1879 wild guess here but how many pasta factories were there here in the U.S. in 1879? hand-made pasta shipped from Italy probably would have been pretty expensive. also, wealth disparity in 1870s - you were either wealthy or you were not.

delete all billionaires

Not Antisemitism (according to MAGA): - Firebombing a Jewish governor‘s house during Passover - Doing a Sieg Hitler salute - Eating dinner with neo-Nazis Antisemitism (according to MAGA): - Saying Israelis and Palestinians deserve rights and dignity - Using freedom of speech on campus

They continue to violate a court order to retrieve someone they illegally deported. We’re now well beyond a constitutional crisis. If they’re allowed to do this, their secret police can sweep up anyone, for any reason, deport them & refuse to bring them back. That would be the end of democracy.

they're giving more civil rights to a foreign country's government than to u.s. citizens and permanent residents.

I hate to be that guy, but this is the five-alarm fire, and every elected Democrat and frankly, every Washington reporter should be ringing the bell. If it can happen to him, it can happen to anyone. Nobody with a voice should give this administration a moment’s peace about it.

Oh fuck oh shit

BREAKING: 36k people showed up in LA for Bernie and AOC’s rally. In the off year. Americans are pissed — and anyone ignoring that is making a big mistake.

chapter 1 goes over background history 1780s-1850s: everybody is basically "liberal", mostly arguing over whether to farm or to mercantilize/industrialize. 1860s-1930: factory system. industrialists have/control everything (including the guns). labor exploitation/wage slavery. early reactionarism.

watching The Lives of Others in the early 2010s: "damn that sucked and that this is a work of fiction. i'm sure glad it could never get that cartoonishly evil here." watching The Lives of Others in 2025: "oh shit i hope nobody in the current administration is friends with any ex-stasi... oh shit"

you'll never be rid of him

"This should be the prayer of every creative in the AI age: please God, don’t let what I do be something some tech guy thinks is neat, or interesting, or cool. Don't let the Eye of Sauron fall on me. I do not want to be part of this modern fable: of tech bros ... killing everything they love."
