The fact this pasta, that in the UK costs a fortune, is actually supermarket own-brand price in Italy might just be my joker moment

I love this* by my old colleague @lexytopping.bsky.social on the journalist who had a curiously successful run of interviews with Tom Cruise, Barack Obama, and George Clooney for tiny regional UK publications. *If you read it you can imagine the legals on it. www.theguardian.com/media/ng-int...

There is a part of me that wants to be really hyper-aware that transphobes want nothing more than to gut the GRA and the Equality Act, and there is the other that wants to set up 10,000 trans-inclusive associations of gay men and sue the EHRC into dust on freedom of association grounds

For some reason the BBC has just sent a push notification out about an article that says 50 people in Alberta want to join the US. I’ve never seen a push notification about, for example, people in Wales wanting to secede from the Union.

I’m a trans man. If my football team followed the EHRC guidance for our match today, I would have had to change in a separate room and use a separate toilet. Ultimately, I imagine the EHRC would like to ban me from playing on the same team as cis men. We say no. Trans rights are human rights 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

Sadiq Khan / TfL gave the go ahead for a road tunnel without building an equivalent fixed cycle bridge/tunnel in east london … so critical mass took things into their own hands and turned the Silvertown tunnel into a cycle route.

Milei looks like a 70’s Welshman who passed out drunk on his nephew’s stag do in Brynamman RFC & mysteriously woke up in the Vatican

The government has a huge majority in parliament. It sets the law, not the Supreme Court. It could, if it wanted to, pass new laws to ensure trans people are respected in their gender. The government is actively choosing not to, and is instead supporting the most transphobic reading of judgement.

Today I found out that the lager “Poretti” does actually exist and is Italian, when I’d assumed it was a Wetherspoons knock-off of Moretti

This moment when the penny drops that trying to implement bathroom bans is an impossibility for the former Tory Chief Secretary Simon Clarke is delicious.

When first term Trump said of the White House: “this house, or building, or whatever you want to call it, because really it has no name” he showed how absolutely seething he was that he hadn’t inherited a mansion, but an office block with a flat out the back

The dissonance of being in Northern Italy atm where the locals are dressed like it is -5, but I fully feel like summer has arrived

One thing you can guarantee as the new antitrans consensus takes hold across the UK is that there will be absolutely no decline in the prevalence of women being sexually assaulted, and absolutely no increase in the successful prosecution of such assaults.

If I didn’t want the UK to succeed, I would find all the ways the government is hobbling its growth strategy so funny. Pro the Oxford/Cambridge arc, provided we don’t make it easier for researchers to come here, and not so pro as not to pass a *one-line bill* for metro-mayors.

SORRY. Sorry. Have we seen this *incredible* news video coming out of Queensland? Wait for the witness/witnesses statement

The Government is siding with the most reactionary elements in society to wilfully misinterpret a Supreme Court ruling to take away civil rights from a vulnerable minority. It is utterly shameful.

Remember when I quit the Labour Party years ago and said it was institutionally transphobic and people told me that it wasn’t, the problem was just Rosie Duffield, and that I should stay and fight? Well, well, well.

We’re definitely going to get such an evil pope this time aren’t we

“Youssef!… I pray for you.” The Pope held regular calls with the parish in Gaza - even during his lengthy period of illness. (This video from January)

Also, just to emphasise, again, treating trans people as something other and unreconcilable with men and women is not respecting their rights! It's dehumanising!

Ruling on ‘woman’ definition at odds with UK Equality Act’s aim, says ex-civil servant

If I have a GRC, then that means basically all my ID now lists me as a different sex to the one I was born with. The law behind the GRC says that I have, for all intents and purposes, acquired the characteristics of that sex. The Supreme Court ruling says that actually, that's wrong, I don't.

Very clear that those behind yesterday’s case want to repeal the Gender Recognition Act, and that they’re allied with people that want rid of the Equality Act and to get us out of the ECHR. These are going to be the big defensive battles for equality in the years to come.

This is so insidious. Trans gay and lesbian people are gay and lesbian. Why have we allowed ourself to get into a place where we’re inviting judges to define our sexualities, rather than defining them for ourselves. Why do any queer people think this is a good road to go down.

Fully obsessed with this video of Bethenny Frankel discovering Pret vm.tiktok.com/ZNdFgKhQW/ #RHONY

i hope one day there will be a successful left leaning backlash to the people in charge of everything and i hope it will be particularly merciless to these types of cowards

Trans men are men. Trans woman are women. And that’s that.

the perspective looks a bit weird but overall it's genius in capturing what a closed person she is - the closed blazer, the defensive arm across her waist, the long jacket and her hand keeping it in place, the wary look it's like she's saying "you're a threat, don't talk to me". which is very her.

So many people ask queers why we support Palestine. As in so many cases, Mark Ashton has the answer: solidarity

This is an outstanding conversation between two extremely interesting and intelligent people. You’ll be better for spending some time listening to them. youtu.be/Eq9I14EoM04?...

No one from Bravo is on here, but we really need a format that is RHONY Legacy meets Ultimate Girls Trip. All the real RHONY women. 3-4 eps pre-trip building the drama, 6-8 episode girls’ trip, 3-4 eps to deal with the trip’s drama. Centre it on Sonja in Miami but they go to St Bart’s or Mexico etc

MAFS Australia really is an experiment in how terrible can the men they find be. I honestly thought Harrison from a few seasons ago would be the worst possible, but about 80% of the men on the current season are much much worse than him

Pitch: rebrand steak knives as sourdough knives for the vegetarian millennial

Hate to be millennial about it all but it is just mental that my whole working life has just been a series of recessions and “economic shocks”, underpinned by stagnant wages

Is Last One Laughing filmed on the Big Brother set?

as students are being thrown into vans and deported for school paper op eds I can’t help but think about the years many of the most well compensated and secure intellectuals in the US had the courage to sign so many letters about the dangerous climate of left wing censoriousness

Have seen American liberals talking about how Trump has been able to exploit the provisions they put in place al& fully backed as part of the “war on terror”. It’s good they realise this, but it’s 20 years too late to realise that their authoritarian liberalism has left the door wide open to fascism

Behold, per inbox, "the first ever bed design[ed] for non-monogamy": first of all, I'd say all beds work for non-monogamy; second, good god look at it

Ryan and Jacqui are two of the most unusual people I’ve ever seen, never mind seen in reality tv. I’ve just literally got no hook on where either of them are coming from #MAFS
