1️⃣1️⃣ Low-Silver Rider If you witnessed Low, consider yourself fortunate. My last time was near the end. Mim was sick, but fighting through. A beautiful day in Minneapolis, June 2022. The final Rock The Garden festival. Life. You never really know. Sometimes your voice is not enough. #2005SongsTop20

1️⃣2️⃣ The Strokes-Juicebox Described as an "aggressive" first single from FIOE is putting it mildly. This bugger gets downright intense. Good fit though, as it's actually a reference to any vampirish, bloodsucker-like behavior. Why won't you come over here? We've got a city to love. #2005SongsTop20

1️⃣3️⃣ Sleater/Kinney-Entertain You've heard it before-being in a band; like being in a marriage. A brutal chain of events lead to S/Ks near decade hiatus during The Woods tour. A big triumph to see that Carrie and Corin did persevere. You come around looking 1984, you're such a bore. #2005SongsTop20

1️⃣4️⃣ Ben Folds-Landed There's a lot of bands/artists that I find difficult if not impossible to omit from our countdowns. This is due to their influence on my own songwriting. Ben Folds is both of the above. And I twisted it wrong just to make it right, had to leave myself behind. #2005SongsTop20

1️⃣5️⃣ Fiona Apple-Better Version Of Me All of Fiona's albums so far have featured at least one 3 to 4 minute song that's a ready-made pick for a single. Those songs all have a similar vibe, and they're full of frenetic piano work. Hard to top Sleep To Dream, but this one comes close. #2005SongsTop20

1️⃣6️⃣ Common & Kanye West-The Food Dave Chappelle was the face of comedy, then controversy back-to-back years in The States-but also, THE advocate for hip-hop and R&B. This song (released by Common in 2005) was the introduction to both rappers to most of America, via Chappelle's Show. #2005SongsTop20

1️⃣7️⃣ Aimee Mann-Going Through The Motions Aimee has the music career arc that musicians dreams of. Have one big hit song when you're young, then you can fly under the radar, do your own thing; your vibe. You practically get to live a regular life. I'm afraid I'll never see you well. #2005SongsTop20

1️⃣8️⃣ The Raveonettes-Love In A Trashcan The late '90s, the aughts and tween/teens gave us more retro sounding bands. Seeing the amount of them that are still around and doing it successfully shows that rock 'n roll never dies, and music is cyclical. On the road 'til the end of time. #2005SongsTop20

1️⃣9️⃣ Audioslave-Doesn't Remind Me Chris, Tom, Timmy C and Brad definitely went on a different musical path together, given that Soundgarden and RATM's sound were anything but the straightforward rock band vibe. A departure, but one that worked well for all four. What's mine is ours. #2005SongsTop20

2️⃣0️⃣ Weezer-Hold Me Kicking off the 20 tunes/20 years party with an album cut, a nice shout-out to our album countdowns. Make Believe gives Rivers Cuomo's most vulnerable, heartfelt set of lyrics. This track always wins. You are fading further from me, why don't you come home to me? #2005SongsTop20

Album: 1️⃣ Radiohead-The Bends Song: 1️⃣ Oasis-Wonderwall Probably the first of several times I'll have the On A Friday mates at #1 for album countdowns. Thanks again Barry @musiccountdownguy.bsky.social for hosting and bringing us together, it's always fun. See you all next time! 🏆🏆 #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 2️⃣ Alanis Morissette-Jagged Little Pill Song: 2️⃣ Radiohead-Fake Plastic Trees Alanis walked right in, and took '95 as hers. I can't think her and not recall that year, and this monster album. Best part of it is, the songs don't age at all 30 years later. Stamped evergreen. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 3️⃣ Oasis-(What's The Story) Morning Glory? Song: 3️⃣ Pearl Jam-I Got ID In the States, Oasis got a lot of buzz from Definitely Maybe, but this album put them on the map here. During my first year at college, I couldn't turn on MTV without hearing Wonderwall. One more time! #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 4️⃣ No Doubt-Tragic Kingdom Song: 4️⃣ Bush-Glycerine The music scene paradigm shifted in 1995, and Gwen Stefani pushing 80's vibes in the mid 90's was further proof that changes were happening. The seismic moment was when ND's singles and videos got massive airtime in 1996. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 5️⃣ Alice in Chains-ST Song: 5️⃣ Rancid-Time Bomb Jerry and Layne did motivate each other. One pushed the other to sing more, then the former pushed the latter to write more lyrics. Staley lyrics and Cantrell lead vocals showed up big for Tripod. So sad it was their last shot. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 6️⃣ Neil Young-Mirrorball Song: 6️⃣ Smashing Pumpkins-1979 With Pearl Jam hanging on by a thread, Neil stepped in and pointed them in a good direction-at least where they wanted to work together again. The sessions and the accompanying Merkinball EP still sound loose and free. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 7️⃣ Wilco-A.M. Song: 7️⃣ Alanis Morrissette-You Oughta Know Post Uncle Tupelo's divorce, Jeff Tweedy navigated his way through said tough time with the remaining non-Jay Farrar UT crew, and rather than a continuation, we got what feels more like a wistful goodbye to the past. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 8️⃣ Smashing Pumpkins-Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness Song: 8️⃣ Wilco-Box Full Of Letters Billy Corgan made an unforgettable double album, though it hasn't stood up as well with time like Gish or Siamese has. A lot of cabbage, but there's still some bangers in this set. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 9️⃣ Garbage-ST Song: 9️⃣ Toad The Wet Sprocket-Good Intentions Put 4 producers together in a band, and there's a really good chance it's going to work. Looking forward to seeing Shirley, Butch, Duke and Steve for the first time at First Ave this fall. 30 years of good garbage! #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 🔟 Foo Fighters-ST Song: 🔟 Alice In Chains-Again Dave Grohl poured it all into recording his debut in '94. Next, enter Nirvana's Pat Smear, Sunny Day Real Estate's rhythm section-Nate Mendel and Bill Goldsmith-to round out the Foo's first lineup in '95. Y'all know the rest. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣1️⃣ Collective Soul-ST Songs: 1️⃣2️⃣ Soul Asylum-Misery 1️⃣1️⃣ Son Volt-Drown After 4 separate decades of seeing CS live, Ed Roland and his songs continue to age well. Though he didn't level up very much after the ST album, it continues to be a benchmark for southern bands today. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣2️⃣ Prince-The Gold Experience Songs: 1️⃣4️⃣ Garbage-Only Happy When It Rains 1️⃣3️⃣ Elastica-Connection While The Purple One was a symbol, and hardcore feuding with the Warners, the albums kept coming. TGE was the best of that era. Even the B-sides were uncontested 3-pointers. 🏀🔥 #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣3️⃣ Rancid-...And Out Come The Wolves Songs: 1️⃣6️⃣ Prince-Rock 'N' Roll Is Alive! (And It Lives In Minneapolis) 1️⃣5️⃣ Better Than Ezra-Good Punk rock started a resurgence run in the mid 90s and kept on for the rest of the decade. If '94 was Green Day's year, Rancid snatched '95. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣4️⃣ Joan Osborne-Relish Songs: 1️⃣8️⃣ Matthew Sweet-Sick Of Myself 1️⃣7️⃣ Joan Osborne-One Of Us Joan was the modern day "it" soul singer of the '90s, then she kept under the radar. She didn't need the pop charts to build her credibility, but having an album this good never hurts. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣5️⃣ Better Than Ezra-Deluxe Songs: 2️⃣0️⃣ Collective Soul-Gel 1️⃣9️⃣ Ol' Dirty Bastard-Shimmy Shimmy Ya Bringing positive vibes on new albums wasn't trendy at the time, but by '95, it felt like the vibe started to shift. BTE's debut shows honesty to child-of-the-90s ups and downs. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣6️⃣ Ben Folds Five-ST Songs: 2️⃣2️⃣ Pulp-Common People 2️⃣1️⃣ The Beatles-Free As A Bird Can vouch for this, it's an uphill battle to rock out on piano; only the greats can pull it off. Ben Folds brought a fresh southeastern vibe to a genre that needed new life breathed into it. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣7️⃣ Soul Asylum-Let Your Dim Light Shine Songs: 2️⃣4️⃣ Foo Fighters-I'll Stick Around 2️⃣3️⃣ Paul Weller-The Changingman The Minneapolis scene went through a transitional time in the '90s. As their peers mapped solo career paths, SA pushed on and kept the dim light shining for MN. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣8️⃣ Mad Season-Above Songs: 2️⃣6️⃣ Blur-Country House 2️⃣5️⃣ Everclear-Santa Monica A one-off shot that we won't see again. Mike, John, Barrett, and Layne put together a great set of songs, Snagged Mark Lanegan for some help, and left the remnants of an amazing Seattle supergroup. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 1️⃣9️⃣ The Presidents Of The United States Of America-ST Songs: 2️⃣8️⃣ PJ Harvey-Down By The Water 2️⃣7️⃣ Gin Blossoms-Til I Hear It From You With Seattle's music vibe back then, having a band show up from that scene that allowed us to-dare I say, LAUGH a little-was quite refreshing. #1995AlbumsTop20

Album: 2️⃣0️⃣ Everclear-Sparkle And Fade Songs: 3️⃣0️⃣ Dave Matthews Band-Ants Marching 2️⃣9️⃣ Annie Lennox-No More 'I Love You's' Hey again, everyone! This set of albums and make-good songs reminds me of my first run in college. SO much MTV! Definitely where I found bands like Everclear. #1995AlbumsTop20

Happy 38th

If Zimmy is playing in your backyard, you better show up. ✋🏻 Didn't even drive 2 miles! Heavy on the now 5-year-old "new" album-same COVID delayed tour. No phones allowed! Several "baby" songs in the set, and a river song-maybe due to Mankato's flooding last summer. Great to have Bob back in MN! 🎸

Nothing says “winning” like a $2.5 trillion market wipeout. If you have a retirement account, a small business, or just buy groceries, congratulations you’re paying for Trump’s economic recklessness. Slapping tariffs on America’s biggest trading partners isn’t a genius economic strategy.

I told 'em bipartisanship wouldn't hold back a fascist ethnostate! Oh, wait. No, I didn't. I MEANT to tell 'em
