Every year I look for events that will both inspire me and where I may add value to others, ignite sparks, make new connections. This year, thanks to the inspiring @benbrabyn.bsky.social , I am attending @anthropyuk.bsky.social Join us!

Yes, and in cities with narrow roads (such as South London), drivers of these cars tend not to know the width of their vehicle so just don’t leave room for those going the opposite way on the (shared) road.

In Cayman we never used to have street names, but as part of our emergency services system implementation we needed to name them all. The street naming committees lost imagination after a while. "Off the Beaten Path Road" is a favourite!

One idea for @judithfreedman.bsky.social "Contractors" now pay both EE and EER NIC via the Umbrella route they are forced to use for self-employment. This incentivises companies to use this route rather than employ people. What if we made the "employer" pay the EER NIC? www.ft.com/content/4810...

I had stage 3 colon cancer, chemo ended 2.5 years ago, still on various checks quarterly and annually. It is what it is and it will be what it will be (or not). Congrats on your clear test.

Fascinating Always learn from @edconway.bsky.social

Excellent essay, Paul, truly thought-provoking. Two thoughts. First, I used to explain Jon Stewart (vintage Daily Show) to Brits: "he skewers pomposity". That is how to deal with Prigs. Second, Plurality. I consciously spend time with people I don't agree with. Keeps the mind open.

Reading books seems to be dying off, so have to loudly applaud this :)

At an NFL playoff game, Philadelphia Eagles star receiver A.J. Brown was seen on the sidelines, reading a book. So what made him open it up as the action continued? “I like to read,” he said.

"not being a dick" One for @bobsutton.net #noassholerule

Join @benbrabyn.bsky.social and I (and many others!) at the Eden Project March 26-28

Adore Fonda and the staff make it extra special. They love what they do. Have been twice already and going back with a dinner club soon. PS love that @jayrayner1.bsky.social loves Lebnani in Reigate too. A man of great taste, clearly 😊

My Dad taught me that this is the best way to learn to control a car on snow and ice. That said he did say to do it at 2am in an empty parking lot, not at a junction 😜

My career has been largely based on learning internationally and taking those ideas into another country. I recommend casting the net wide, eg Netherlands, France, UK, Canada and others. Each have their own strengths and gaps, then you can design one for the USA learning from them.

Thought of @angelicaoung.bsky.social when I saw @profgalloway.com and his thoughts on nuclear in his 2025 predictions. "Wind and solar are great, but they lack the scale and reliability of nuclear power...Nuclear power may be the worst-managed brand in history." medium.com/@profgallowa...
