I don’t know how many times we have to say this, but the U.S. government is not a business and shouldn’t be run like one. It’s a service—for the people.

Bcuz 1 of America’s 2 political parties gave up on democracy & the rule of law. Bcuz the other political party grew out of touch with working class folks. Bcuz too many people are untethered to truth. And bcuz of all that, a bad man won in Nov. And that bad man hired bad people. Like Stephen Miller.

On this solemn day, let us give Potato the tribute it deserves.

If this is even remotely accurate, Elon Musk and Donald Trump have killed more people in several months than the Iraq war killed in a decade

Many of the people who voted for America's political disaster are paying no attention to the unfolding disaster. They don't follow the news. They think the libs are getting owned and that's enough for them. They're clueless about the damage they've done to everyone, including themselves.

The Republican Party decided long ago that lying was a great political tactic, way better than yard signs, door-knocking and robo calls. The GOP realized its lies cost nothing to produce, and right-wing media would happily spread them, also for free.

I think I'lll trust the real doctor on this issue. And all the issues.

Trump reduced the tariffs on China in exchange for nothing. He paused the tariffs on Canada & Mexico in exchange for nothing. He postponed tariffs on EU in exchange for nothing. He threatened Russia with sanctions if they didn’t sign ceasefire & did nothing. Art of the Deal.

Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

Vance is a genuine asshole, but I think he also sees assholery as a part of a winning political persona. What he misses is that lots of people see Trump as a *fun* asshole and that's why they like his schtick. But there's nothing fun about JD Vance and never will be.

I keep telling you: Trump wins because of how fucking stupid and apathetic too many people are. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Yes, we noticed. You're still here.

looking at the photo that headlines this piece i think i know what the university of austin means when they say they don't tolerate "DEI" quillette.com/2025/05/16/i...

The “fluoride removal” bit is a solution in search of a problem. Fluoride levels in Florida are completely safe, help prevent cavities, and keep kids in school. Where’s the evidence it’s been remotely harmful? There isn’t any. No ethics, no morals, all smoke and mirrors.

Really says a lot about Republicans that they blocked their own budget bill because it didn’t harm enough people.

Holy shiitake! Trump fired Shira Perlmutter, the Director of the US Copyrights Office apparently because she refused to let Elon Musk raid the place to steal author’s intellectual property rights democrats-cha.house.gov/media/press-...

Girls can only have 2 dolls but boys can lose 4 F-18s in the Red Sea

I just really need everybody to understand that everything that’s happening in and to the global economy now (and all the businesses and people in it) is the entirely predictable result of the intentional decisions of one guy who doesn’t understand how the global economy works.

There are downsides to the US being the worlds policeman. But in a case like this the US wld normally be convening other powers to help deescalate the situation btw India and Pakistan. Is anyone in Washington even paying attention? Vance I think just said the US doesn’t care.

I just think it’s hilarious that people went to college with the Pope. “What’s Ken up to these days? Partner at a law firm outside Pittsburgh, that’s nice. And Bob? Oh, he’s the Pope.”

The last fellas who came from Chicago, were given a rigorous education in Catholicism and then claimed to be on a mission from God? They destroyed a suburban shopping mall, wrecked about 300 police cars and ended up in Joliet penitentiary. Just saying.

I once met with a Missouri libertarian who was actively trying to defund public schools, and I asked how that would impact his own children. He has nine. He told me he homeschools them. I said you homeschool them? He said well, my wife… Yeah.

I mean, fuck it. We live in Hell. Why the fuck not.

Rome has a pope who listens to Jesus. Washington has a president who listens to Putin.

“The pope will be from Chicago” sounds like an 1880s Republican’s dire prediction for if we don’t stop Irish immigration

Pope Leo is the Vatican's response for America giving us the Anti-Christ.

Early exit polls suggest the new pope did particularly well with male voters aged 45-79.

Habemus papadam!

If you were born in 2007, that means you were 10 when Trump first entered office, entered high school during COVID lockdown, and entered college at the height of ChatGPT. I have to imagine you are functionally insane.

congrats to all the people who celebrated Trump as the peace candidate opposed to foreign military interventions.

Dear Canada 🇨🇦 we love you and are proud to have you as our ally to the north. Stay exactly as you are. Trump’s nonsense about merging with the USA is absurd and doesn’t speak for us.

Donald Trump is not well. Not physically. Not mentally. And it’s time for the media to start talking about it.

I’m pitching a script about a 78 year-old incontinent drug addict who evades imprisonment for his myriad crimes by aligning himself with a crazy Silicon Valley tech billionaire to help rig an election and become POTUS again… it’s called ‘Turdman of Alcatraz’.

MARK THIS DOWN: Donald Trump is deliberately destroying American small business. The only players that survive his Tariff apocalypse is the big corporations. This almost seems it's by design, don't it?

The world's oldest person just died again and nobody's asking why this keeps happening

Socialism is what they called public power.  Socialism is what they called social security.    Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.   Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. —Harry Truman, 1952
