In other words, puts politicians in charge of what students are allowed to learn, the definition of authoritarianism.

The Spurs' Harrison Barnes has been named one of five finalists for the NBA's Social Justice Award. Among Barnes' good works cited: A half-million dollar donation to students at St. Philip's College via AlamoPROMISE in February. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

Check out how the anchors of CBS Evening News ended their broadcast tonight:

Rex Huppke admits that he has worn a Bulls hat. Which means, according to the MAGA mindset, that he's in MS-13. "I’m a middle-aged, non-Hispanic suburban man who’s whiter than ceiling primer, so I’m not sure how or when I became active in Hispanic gang culture." Sharp column by my friend Rex.

San Antonio: "No kings in America:" More than 1,000 protest in downtown 50501 movement www.expressnews.com/news/article...

Our little pickup basketball community lost a wonderful man this week and it’s still hard to process. Cavione was the guy who for so many years was the voice of reason amid dumb arguments, and the guy who made people laugh when they were about to blow up. We are heartbroken. gofund.me/cb5af14b

It was entirely clear this is what they were doing. They say it's about immigrants but nothing would stop them from using this on citizens. It's a clear violation of the privacy act. They're combining databases from DHS, HHS, SSA, and IRS to surveil everyone. www.wired.com/story/doge-c...

On point column by @willbunch.bsky.social. Spread this message far and wide.

After spending the final weeks of the season mainly atop the Spurs' offensive pecking order, Devin Vassell is ready to revert to being the 3rd or even 4th option in 2025-26. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

Steve Kerr wore a Harvard basketball shirt after the Warriors’ win tonight: “Yes, this is me supporting Harvard. Way to go. Way to stand up to the bully.”

This whole story is outrageous but just look at this explanation. If this is “discrimination,” who, exactly is being discriminated against?

My friend @rexhuppke.bsky.social is normally a great humor columnist, but there's nothing funny about the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and the end of America as we know it. A must read www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...

Major League Baseball and the Dodgers will be lavishing praise on Jackie Robinson today. Spare me. These same folks have had nothing to say as the Trump administration tries to erase Robinson and everything he fought for. www.usatoday.com/story/sports...

The future of the Spurs' head coaching position remains in limbo as Gregg Popovich continues to work his way back to health. One thing everyone in the organization agrees upon: Mitch Johnson deserves the highest of high fives for navigating a difficult season. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

De’Aaron Fox has eyes on signing a lucrative extension with the Spurs this summer and then following it with plenty or workouts with Wemby with the goal of becoming the best pick-and-roll combo in the NBA. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

When Chris Paul joined the Spurs last July, he did so saying he wanted “to play, to hoop, to compete.” He did all of it right through the season’s final buzzer. On how the future Hall of Famer made NBA history Sunday in fiercely competitive Chris Paul style. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

"We never hung our heads," Julian Champagnie said. "We came out and hooped every game." That included the season finale. Fittingly, the Spurs overcame a 22-point deficit to down the Raptors 125-1128 in the season finale Sunday at the Frost Bank Center. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

Jeremy Sochan on Chris Paul playing in all 82 games: "He could be in flipping, I don't know, Hawaii, doing nothing. And he's here in San Antonio, Texas, busting his ass 82 fucking games, just doing his thing. And I think that's what I've noticed, just the passion that he has."

Chris Paul on playing 34 minutes at age 39 in his 82nd game of the season: "I wanted to hoop. One of the guys on the bench asked me in the fourth quarter, 'Why are you in there playing?' I said, it's a long summer when you don't make the playoffs. Like what else I got to do?"

Upbeat and freshly braided, Victor Wembanyama addressed the media Sunday for the first time since deep vein thrombosis deep-sixed his second NBA season. He was short on details but long on optimism. “I know I’m over with this problem,” Wembanyama said. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

Fox on if he expects to sign a lucrative extension in the offseason: "Yeah, I would hope so. ... I'm excited about what we're trying to build here."

Fox says he should be cleared to play in eight weeks, but that he will start doing "basketball stuff" in the next two: "It's definitely progressing, got the stitches out, wounds closing, trying to keep it as straight as possible for the time being. I wear a splint all the time now, but I feel good."

Wemby on the Spurs' coaching situation: "I trust the organization. I trust Pop to (do) all he can to come back, to get his energy back. And I also trust Mitch to grow into that role. So, I think we are in good hands. We're supporting each other all throughout the organization."

Although he talked about being a "patient," Wemby declined to address whether he had surgery: "There's many more things than surgery when you go to the hospital for a blood clot. So, I'm not going to expand on my medical record, but I definitely did some visits to the hospital..."

Wemby expressed confidence that his future remains extremely bright despite the blood clot that ended his season in February: "I know I'm over with this problem." He also said he has gained some valuable lessons from the experience. "I know in the long run, it's going to be good for me," he said.

Mitch Johnson says he's not thinking yet about his future, stressing that "...This organization is still prioritizing Pop's health, and that time he will do what he needs to do and make decisions, and that will go through this organization on very many levels..."

There's a reason ICE agents wear masks in the street. Fresh batch of hot 'n' piping Spurs notes: * Call it the Spurs' version of Iron Man 3, with a trio of players in line to play all 82 games * With one game left, Sochan, Vassell and Keldon could be done for the season * Spurs lock down lottery odds www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

Mitch Johnson cannot envision Chris Paul as a coach. At least not yet. He can't picture Paul on television. "He belongs on the court, with the ball in his hands, yelling at somebody,” Johnson said. Sunday could be the last hurrah for CP3, but don't bet on it. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

This is what its like to work in the Trump administration now. When a career official objected to declaring that living immigrants were dead on legal and ethical grounds, security guards went to his office and told him to leave. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not. An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.

Nine years ago, Scott King didn’t know what kind of a career he would pursue. Fast forward to today: He’s the 2025 G League Coach of the Year after guiding the Austin Spurs back to the playoffs. On the latest up-and-coming coach in the Spurs’ organization: www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...

"To be in that conversation, it's surreal to me." Once upon a time, Keldon Johnson wondered how he could thrive as anything but a starter. Sixteen months after moving to the 2nd unit, he has turned in the highest-scoring season off the bench in Spurs history. www.expressnews.com/sports/spurs...
