Can "Stringer" be a journalist's real name? Also, as a one-time denizen: Brighton Argus... Ooof.

But you can still have thoughts.

The international discourse in Canada seems to be about three weeks ahead of that in Europe or DC. Or about a year ahead in old money.

I was going to say that the conversation in Canada feels about three weeks ahead of that in Europe, which is about a year in normal times. Puts us in a place to lead an effort perhaps?

Have you seen this long thread disputing Microsoft's claims (at least, those in the PR) and documenting a long history of claims and retractions, by a researcher in the field? .https://bsky.app/profile/spinespresso.bsky.social/post/3likbu3x5lk2c

Weird, and in this case also probably fictional. Here is an amazing long thread of links from an expert on Microsoft's repeated claims and retractions. bsky.app/profile/spin...

I feel that here in Canada we are, for a change, about three weeks ahead of the discourse elsewhere. In January we went through the "51st state is just a joke" phase, but in February the threat is being taken seriously by most people.

It feels like the conversation in Canada is about two weeks ahead of the conversation in Europe. Which is to say, Europe has about five steps of realization to get through.

Agreed. No time for PP obviously, but if you want to appeal to the whole country to overcome differences, running this ad shows it's not your top priority (which it needs to be).
