I am appalled by these threats being made against our fellow Australians, neighbours and friends. After the Christchurch attack I joined thousands of people at Lakemba Mosque in a show of solidarity.

Today is the International Day to combat Islamophobia. There is no place for Islamophobia. Not here. Not anywhere.

Ok so this is truly bizarre. Just heard James Paterson on RN. So Paterson’s latest position is Dutton had no way of knowing he should receive an additional briefing… despite being told publicly to get one.

The revelations this afternoon about the incident in Dural show that Peter Dutton has played directly into the hands of organised crime figures who have been trying to profit from dividing our community.

I, like all Australians, have been horrified by reports overnight of a threat being made against Al-Faisal College in western Sydney.

Australian Islamic House Masjid received abhorrent threats earlier today. After returning from Brisbane tonight I went straight to the mosque to stand in solidarity with the community. People have a right to worship in peace and safety. The government stands against the bigotry of Islamophobia.

James Paterson has done it again. This time his misinformation was on Sky News. He claimed the only people invited to citizenship ceremonies were Labor MPs. Wrong.

Full credit to Mr Paterson. He talks a newspaper into running a story furiously demanding the department release information that not a single Liberal MP had asked for. He might be terrible at facts but he’s clever at media.

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will make the single largest investment in Medicare ever. Delivering an additional 18 million bulk-billed GP visits every year 🩺

I’ve just landed to reports of this police operation in Sydney. We said no resource would be spared. We said authorities would chase these people down and that is what is happening. Anyone engaging in these hate crimes needs to know: you will be caught, you will be arrested, you will be charged.

This morning Shadow Minister James Paterson made wild exaggerations about the number of visas granted to family members of those stranded in this country by the former government’s neglect.

At ceremonies all around Australia over the past few days we are becoming an even better country. I love hearing new citizens make a pledge to Australia. To everyone who is becoming an Australian citizen: Welcome Home!

Happy New Year! In 2025 we will continue to work hard for Australians. A special thank you to students Amico and Sheikh Sa’id, for their amazing drawings!

The targeting of Australians based on their religious beliefs will never be tolerated, and nothing could be less Australian. I condemn this utterly, as I consistently have for all communities. I hope state authorities make an example of anyone attempting to undermine our social cohesion.

To anyone who’s working today - THANK YOU! If you’re making the most of the boxing day sales, please be kind and courteous to staff.

In my part of Sydney, people are always generous in sharing whatever celebration is personally important to them with the whole community. In that same spirit, I'm wishing you all the peace and joy of Christmas and a safe and restful holiday.

Anti-semitism and Islamophobia have no place in Australia. I condemn these vile crimes like I’ve condemned all those that have come before. Australians don’t want to see this hatred playing out on our streets, including in my local shopping centre at Bankstown.

For decades, Michael Leunig’s cartoons have illuminated the complexities of our world with humour, humanity, and truth. Through his simple yet profound illustrations, Leunig reminded us to find joy in life’s absurdities and to never lose sight of compassion and kindness.

John Marsden was a literary giant. His works have touched the hearts of generations of Australians. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and the broader literary community during this time of loss.

This latest attack is an abhorrent attempt to intimidate our Jewish community, but it will not be successful. Officers from Operation Avalite will brief the Government this morning. Home Affairs officials are engaging with NSW Police.

I’ve known Paul Fletcher since my university days. For a while there I was upset he never chose me for the debating team but today I can officially say I’m over it and ready to wish him well. Paul has made a significant contribution to his side of politics.

Usually I’m a Gang of Youths guy for #AusmusicTShirtDay but this year, I went with a great local Brisbane band Bean Magazine 🎸 You can support artists and music workers this #AusmusicTShirtDay by donating to Support Act or buying a T-Shirt here: www.ausmusictshirtday.org.au
