Top quality new season Doctor Who again tonight www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002bl53 via @bbciplayer

We’ve know this for ages but it’s good that this kind of analysis in now on mainstream TV in the UK

This is so depressing, esp given the sometimes intrusive level of scrutiny NHS trusts face. Private providers used properly play and important role expanding NHS capacity, which shd benefit us all.

Just listening to Trump show on Ukraine. Completely unhinged from reality and v bad news for Zelensky.

35 years since I left Halifax and the post-industrial grimness has finally been shaken off. Traffic free streets, a fabulous new-look Piece Hall and all those great Victoria buildings, somehow saved from the Sixties wrecking balls, look better than ever.

🚨Some major errors & misleading claims from experienced presenter Nick Robinson on BBC Radio 4 Today, when discussing British Steel with Treasury Minister James Murray I hope these are corrected on tomorrow's programme, and Robinson sticks to the facts in future. Here's what he got wrong... 🧵

BBC R4 reporter says Starmer's giving speech about "putting thousands more bobbies on the beat". I really hope he's not. No one talks like that any more.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die. Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

This is a cold, hard, war crime. There is no other serious way to look at it. It needs more than just some soundbite "oh we don't approves" from world leaders. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

UN says IDF killed 15 Palestinian paramedics and rescue workers one by one www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

From a Sunday Telegraph story about people who have inherited houses while already owning one, complaining that having to pay double council tax on this second home (if they keep it) is ‘extortion’ and I just…cannot

Fantastic article by @tomcalver.bsky.social: not only is the UK not a high-tax country, taxes on *middle-income* earners are low by international standards. If taxes are to rise - and they should - it can't/won't be just on "the rich". www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

Nearly all stories I see about so-called two-tier justice, over-policing and so on are just tedious wailing by folk with an axe to grind. This raid at the Quaker Meeting House, however, is shockingly heavy-handedly, anti-democratic and will dismay most right-thinking people.

The press have caught up with this awful story of a violent police raid on a Quaker meeting house - front page of the Sunday Times today. Beautiful line from a Quaker Elder “The only resistance I could put up was to make tea and drink it in front of them without offering them any.” archive.ph/Ndh1z

🚨 Outrage as 20 police officers break into Westminster Quaker Meeting House and arrest six. 🚨 This shocking violation of a place of worship is a direct result of crackdowns on protest and dissent - freedom of speech, assembly and democracy are at risk.🕊️ 👉 www.quaker.org.uk/news-and-eve...

Someday people will look back on all this, if we're lucky.

Telling that so far I haven't seen one of Trump's usual daily TV appearances today.

Let it begin.

@steverichards.bsky.social very much up your street this open.substack.com/pub/kellnerp...

@helenmiller.bsky.social is this really true from today's Times?

The "faith room" scheme: a tax avoidance wheeze for our times, exposed. Really enjoyed this one, do have a read. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Rachel Reeves v good on BBC's Kuenssberg this morning. Agree or not, she has a her story straight, easily batting aside Laura's all too predictable questions (who ignored RR's ref to May's Euro trade summit) #laurak

Terrific night watching Ghost Stories at Liverpool Playhouse at the start of UK tour. The show premiered at the same place in 2010. Theatre at its best. Bound to be hot tickets: ghoststoriesplay.com

World's largest Ukraine flag was brought out this weekend near the White House. USA stands with Ukraine, and donny orange face will have to reverse course soon bc his poll numbers are starting to tank. Slava Ukraini!

This is such a good piece of writing www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Watching a global hegemon voluntarily surrender its position is extraordinary. A historical first.
