The Trump regime is claiming tyrannical powers. Not an exaggeration, not hyperbole, not a partisan statement. The reality we now face.

“For electronics, at least, we’re now putting much higher tariffs on intermediate goods used in manufacturing than on final goods. This actually discourages manufacturing in the United States.”

🚨From Mia Farrow, this is a post by Eric Trump, it’s frightening, it’s in poor taste, and it’s criminal!!! 🚨🚨🚨

America is now an unstable emerging market

As a centrist, Mark Carney has my vote. He is not Trudeau, and I believe he will rise to the occasion; he already has, in fact. #cdnpoli

Pilots should take note to use caution with all upper-level forecast products, including global models and CAMS, the rawinsondes (weather balloons) from Omaha/Valley are not happening, and as such, that data is missing in guidance products. Everything east of 96W affected.

open.substack.com/pub/sixtydeg... Definitivt worth a few minutes. Note the life-span of new weapons is worth looking at. There is NO TIME for long public tenders. Why not build 100 flexible drone factories (for example in our old bunkers like Regan Vest). Now they are just used for museums.

Ahli Baptist Hospital which had been providing critical care to civilians in Gaza City has been attacked, it has been completely knocked out of service. The only operational hospital left in Northern Gaza.

Would not be surprised if Harvard and Columbia faculty didn’t show up to teach for weeks—all sick from measles or flu or—until their presidents and boards realized they can’t run a university without faculty who believe in free speech and association, including for foreign students and faculty.

Why should you be concerned about Trump “accidentally” deporting people who have zero criminal record? Because if he can do it to them — and ignore judges when they tell him to stop — he can do it to anyone he wants.

“Always the dream was the same — Always the dream was freedom.” -opening passage from “Dark Testament” also from Pauli Murray (1910-1985): "I've lived to see my lost causes found." Thank you to all who persist. Chag sameach. #everynightapoem #Passover

Bit late and kinda indirectly #seabirdersaturday but a little pat on our own back, as we have recently established three reference beaches in the Faroes to monitor for marine plastic. Let's hope we can keep it going for a few years or decades. #marineplastic 🧪🌍

@warren.senate.gov: "This is the Trump administration. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous for the billionaires. Billionaires win and everybody else loses. And they laugh about it."

This is repugnant.

Just a reminder that these are the people purporting to be outraged by antisemitism on campus. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/11/u...

“The damage has been done,” said George Saravelos, the head of foreign exchange research at Deutsche Bank. “The market is reassessing the structural attractiveness of the dollar as the world’s global reserve currency and is undergoing a process of rapid de-dollarisation.”

Keep talking about the Signal security lapse at the Pentagon. The media may have forgotten about it, but the voters have not.

If the government can “deport” you for having beliefs they don’t like, none of us is free. Call it what you want, but it sure as shit ain’t democracy.

Alina Habba has launched a criminal probe into New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy over "ICE obstruction." Immigration control is the responsibility of the federal government. States can’t be compelled to assist ICE under the 10th Amendment. It's amazing this failed lawyer passed the bar exam.

Repeat after me - there is no plan. The entire global economy hangs on the whims of one guy. Also, Howard Lutnick promised me all those millions of jobs screwing tiny screws into iPhones were coming back to the United States.

“what would you have done?” is no longer a hypothetical thought exercise. if you’re not doing anything, there’s your answer.

New Mexico made child care free for most families. Believe it or not, the good thing is good. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Trump tried to bury this story on a Friday night, but it’s extremely important: He’s planning to take land on the border controlled by the Dept. of Interior and sign it over to Dept. of Defense so migrants “would have trespassed on a military installation,” resulting in harsher punishment.

some of the stuff like greenland people can say they didn’t vote for. but they very much voted for tariffs and mass deportations. i have a bottomless well of contempt for people who chose this

I'm teaching Toni Morrison's "Racism and Fascism" piece next week. I plan to focus on her argument that people who engage in fascist behavior often do it because it's fun and thrilling.

We have the most anti-free speech government in modern American history. (And yet, in true Orwellian fashion, they claim to be champions of free speech.)

Cars ruin cities in more ways than just running people over. Paris has reduced air pollution by 50-55% over the past 20 years through policies limiting traffic and banning polluting vehicles.

Trump just denied North Carolina’s request for FEMA relief from Hurricane Helene, calling it “unwarranted.”

Letting Reps with newborns vote remotely is pro-family, Speaker Johnson. Thank you, @pettersen.house.gov, for leading this movement, not just for you and your generation, but for Sam and his.

There’s a special place in HELL for anyone who stands before the Supreme Court and argues that a man they wrongfully sent to an El Salvadorian death camp should stay there.

Bill Maher is the Marco Rubio of comedy.

A reminder to match your liquid foundation to your skin tone, not your handbag.

The United States is the richest country in the history of the world. But who benefits from those riches? Consider: the richest 10% of Americans hold nearly 70% of the nation’s wealth – while the bottom 50% hold just 3%. See the problem?

Darth Vader being “gracious” and “not fake.” Everything we’ve ever not liked about him is absent in this scene.

A president who has the power to send an innocent human being to a foreign concentration camp, but claims he lacks the power to bring them back, is committing the crime of false imprisonment.

This right here 🔥 “If there was market manipulation, it is a crime. Someone needs to go to jail… I want the documents. I want the Signal chats too, because I don’t trust them — that they weren’t sharing all this information across their Signal chats.” – @repstevenhorsford.bsky.social

I'm exhausted just contemplating the coming fight over the meaning of "facilitate." DOJ has previously argued that in immigration law, "facilitating" "does not require [the US to take] any affirmative steps." By DOJ's reading, it means *permitting* the person to return, not enabling it.
