I will say this - EVERYONE with power seems to be desperately hoping that unpopularity does the work that consequences need to do

I had been doubtful that we were going to have a "this is the crisis moment" with Trump, as opposed to "everything about this is a destructive catastrophe." But the Abrego Garcia case is the crisis moment. 1/

Warren: "Congress has a job right now, and that is to step up and take this authority away from Donald Trump."

A president who has the power to send an innocent human being to a foreign concentration camp, but claims he lacks the power to bring them back, is committing the crime of false imprisonment.

gen ai freezes all progress, creativity, and new thinking in place by recycling what has been, disallowing would could be. and what group of people might be motivated by that i wonder

The stock portfolios of more than two dozen members of Congress outperformed the market in 2024. This isn't due to luck or skill. Lawmakers can use privileged information to trade stocks while they’re supposed to be working for you. Make no mistake, it’s legalized corruption.

Marjorie Taylor Greene entered Congress worth $700,000 and is now worth $22 million.

100%. It really is time to go there. Again.

Hey @aoc.bsky.social how about you use your platform to actively push for impeachment ?

Rep. Jayapal has yet to make any statement about whether Trump should be impeached.

One thing I think people don’t understand is that South Korea is an incredibly polarized country, has absurdly high wealth concentration, and also requires absurdly high margins to remove the President. They did it anyway.

It is legit incredible to watch the Wall Street Journal OPINION section be ahead of the Democratic Party.

Amazing!!

Hey @maxwellfrost.bsky.social Why don't you use this as an opportunity to call for impeachment ? I bet the 36k people would love to hear how you plan to hold this administrstion accountable.

Nationwide movement.

"Trump’s tariffs and his abuse frankly threaten to transform the U.S. into a wasting backwater. The only cure for this disease is removing Trump from office; but Democrats are scared to utter the word, let alone to lay out the logic." Yes. @brianbeutler.bsky.social www.offmessage.net/p...

I can't believe that "oppose Trump, unreservedly, his criminality is bad, his policies are bad, they're hurting people in various ways, they're not even popular, don't praise them or him at all, just oppose" is such a controversial position among prominent national Democrats, but it apparently is.

The VA is having mental health clinicians work in cubicle farms and tell veterans they can’t guarantee their privacy because of SecVA’s asinine return to work order. There isn’t room! Veterans will suffer. That’s the real goal. Force VA to fail. The price? Veterans. Enough is enough.

Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act. Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes? Staffer: a DL and birth certificate. Me: The documents don’t match Staffer: Then a marriage certificate. Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too? Staffer: No Me: See the problem?

Anything else w/ this much experimentally verified evidence tends to get thought of as "settled." Weird how it's the science that consistently says "forcing a framework of means testing, the protestant work ethic, & punishing people for being poor is bad, actually" gets repeated incredulity & shock

91% of my Missouri focus group didn't want cuts to Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid, and didn't want to add to the national debt. But they were cold on the idea of raising taxes on billionaires, since 86% of them felt they stood a strong chance of becoming a billionaire in the next 10 years.

25% of Michiganders rely on Medicaid, many in rural counties in districts MI01, MI02, MI04, & MI05. 100% of Michigan's GOP US Representatives voted to cut its funding & cheered when it passed. 0% of them should have a job after 2026. They don't deserve to represent us.

Number of people who go bankrupt every year because of medical bills or illness-related work loss: Australia 0 Canada 0 Denmark 0 Finland 0 France 0 Germany 0 Iceland 0 Ireland 0 Italy 0 Japan 0 Netherlands 0 Norway 0 Portugal 0 Spain 0 Sweden 0 UK 0 United States 530,000 There’s a lesson there.

Hey, @schumer.senate.gov :: you better not be playing cute with your language about stopping the SAVE Act. I hope you intend to VOTE NO ON CLOTURE, as opposed to what you did with the CR when you told us you'd vote no on the bill, but still voted YES on cloture. We are in no mood for games.

Not one reporter asked about the Executive Orders targeting Chris Krebs & Miles Taylor during today’s Cabinet press conference. Not one. A president using DOJ to punish those who spoke out? That’s banana republic territory. I waited. The question never came. Why? Has the fear already taken hold?

Here's a thought: if a court wanted to make an impression on someone they found in civil contempt, it appears that they could order them to be held in an El Salvadoran prison until they paid their fines and complied with the court's order.

COMPARE: the results of fighting back to the results of not fighting back

For almost 15 years now (!!) I have been disabusing students and readers of the notion that the state is a small, weak thing. It’s fragile - the norms and trust can go up in smoke — but nothing is bigger than the state man. That they convinced us otherwise is how we get fools running it.

AOC calls out members of Congress over suspicious stock trades; it’s time to ban insider trading whereisthebuzz.com/aoc-calls-ou...

Attorney General Pam Bondi being forced to comply with a court order in the Jenner & Block case, through gritted teeth, is one of the best things I’ve read this week. She’s throwing a tantrum, but she’s complying. Link to letter filed with Judge Bates: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

A weekly must read from @lindaleepeacock.bsky.social CBC Roundup: Congressman Troy A. Carter, Sr. (LA-2) - "The Voice of the People" www.dailykos.com/stories/2025...

interesting. this would be pertinent information that an opposition party might be blasting out through all of its messaging apparatuses in a coordinated fashion. If such a party existed...

The 10% tariff alone is a $2500 per household annual tax hike!

EXECUTIVE ORDER: ALL COOKED CHICKEN MUST BE UNSEASONED

EXECUTIVE ORDER: YOU MUST ANNOUNCE WHO ALL GON’ BE THERE BEFORE INVITING PEOPLE

TL;DR: The new U.S. tariff rate against our two largest trading partners is either 10%, 25% or 35%, and so far no one I've reached out to at the White House is able to tell me which.

I happen to know that some powerful media orgs were unhappy that AP filed suit; they thought the conflict with the White House would blow over on its own and that AP risked making bad law. The AP's leadership deserves a lot of credit for having proceeded as it did. apnews.com/article/trum...

someone needs to write a paper about how all the big dick ceos and lawyers and bankers who spent decades strutting around like they are hot shit all folded with minimal pressure to Trump yet the country is full of women who wouldn't fold but all have imposter syndrome and aren't in those positions

worked through some of my thoughts about the Supreme Court's decision in Trump v. JGG to let the administration resume trafficking people to El Salvador it's stunning both in its depravity and its desperate avoidance of any actual discussion of said depravity ballsandstrikes.org/scotus/trump...
