Birthday greetings to one of the giants of the #PaperbacksfromHell era—and beyond—the one and only @ramseycampbell.bsky.social!

Got some crime fiction bangers today—love adding those Black Lizards to the library!

BOTD Charles Beaumont (1929-1967), whose many short stories and scripts for the original Twilight Zone tv show and various classic horror movies influenced a whole generation of horror writers growing up in the '50s and '60s… and beyond #PaperbacksfromHell

BOTD Bari Wood (1936), who wrote the terrific TWINS (1977) and THE TRIBE (1981), two exemplars of vintage mainstream thriller/horror fiction. She wrote several others as well, I haven’t read them but these would be hard to beat! Essential #PaperbacksfromHell 🤘📖🔥☠️

On this day 25 years ago we lost the mighty Michael McDowell (1950-1999). His horror novels from 1979-1983 are pinnacles of the #PaperbacksfromHell era!

Y’all I am wearing sweet swag for THE RACK, the amazing new vintage horror-inspired anthology edited by @horrortom.bsky.social 🤘📖☠️🔥

My latest #PaperbacksfromHell review is live on Too Much Horror Fiction!

Reminder that one of the most chilling of Christmas stories is from the pen of @ramseycampbell.bsky.social, 1977’s “The Chimney.” It’s the first story in his landmark collection DARK COMPANIONS—brrrr! 🎅😱 #PaperbacksfromHell

Smoke a carton of Camels unfiltered in his honor! #PaperbacksfromHell

My pet-sitter always takes the best pix of my kitties and my #PaperbacksfromHell library! 🤘📖🔥☠️😻

BOTD Joseph Payne Brennan (1918-1990), author of vintage pulp classics like "Slime," “The Horror at a Chilton Castle,” and “Canavan’s Backyard.” Highly recommended! #PaperbacksfromHell
