The issue seems to be DNS-related. It's always dns 🤦 Seems like most DNS querying at least on networks I have access to fails for both vultr's site itself as well as sites hosted on vultr using their own nameservers. I was able to access vultr.com via a tailnet exit node in digital ocean 🥴

I need to figure out a replacement for my REI Flash Air, I'm thinking something with a bit more of a protective vestibule for bike touring and moto camping, but all the options I'm aware of are $400+. Any suggestions? Should I just save up for one of the fancy Big Agnes tents?

Reminding everyone that Teamsters authorized a strike for Feb 1 if their needs are not met. Demands include wage increases, family and sick leave, and ending employee surveillance practices. Costco can afford these all, as their profits doubled since 2018 over the pandemic

A question I expect no one to respond to. Not rhetorical, but not asked with expectation -- how does a leftist movement create followthru? Not in the context of individual action, but longer-term continued effort towards a project, however loose.

Frankly fuck checking on your trans friends to see if you're ok after the president is tries to legally write us out of existence none of you were doing that anyways, it's time for you to fight for us. The best time was yesterday the 2nd best time is today Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

The more time goes on the more I want to revert back to mailing lists and bbs over any new social media microblogging/image sharing/etc. service (...she says, on a new social media service)

Portland journalist Alissa Azar is going to trial for her coverage of a pro-Palestine protest, Jen Byers reports. Azar’s case has brought to light a history of harassment, violence, & abuse of power by local law enforcement & reveals a landmark legal condemnation against press freedom in the U.S.

I've teased it a bit in various places but I wrote a from-scratch SCP Tabletop RPG and really need playtesters and collaborators to cross the finish line. Any takers?

When there's a break in the rain and nothing on the agenda, we take a little ride for the sake of going on a little ride. I know Portland's not the first place folks would think of as an 'amazing' motorcycle riding location, but god damn is it good when the weather's right.

I wish I were a better writer because I want no more than to write at length about why tech literacy and media literacy go hand in hand, as well as why open source operating system and software research and development are critical spaces to push.

Fulfilling my teenage goal of being a cool dyke on a motorcycle riding with a bunch of other cool girls on motorcycles has been soured somewhat by realizing I am cursed to always pick the dorkiest option available.

Still a long way from an actually useful library, but I've made a fair chunk of progress on my orgmode library for golang. I'm 100% certain the date handling components are less than ideal, but I want to get something up and working before I go back and try to fix. github.com/lcyvin/gorge...

The most recent episode of @margaret.bsky.social's podcast Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff reminded me of my favorite version of "Fischia Il Vento", as performed by an italian ska-punk band, which (fortunately or unfortunately depending on your preference) only exists as a live recording. It slaps.

Ah yes, I've reached the "finding out" part of "I'll just fuck around and write code that deals with datetimes"... for like the millionth time. Org documents state: "With the ‘+1m’ cookie, the date shift is always exactly one month." What, pray tell, is an exact month?

I've given myself an inordinately large task and I'm not even entirely sure /why/. Like, the idea's neat but I don't actually have a strictly immediate use for it I just kinda... wanted to. Anyways, working on writing a library for working with org document trees in go.

I suppose I should have guessed it would, but I did not realize github would support a readme file written in org. It even uses the `#+TITLE` property correctly. Wild.

Was reminded of an old post I shared on a different microblogging platform a few years back. These might be the best slides I've ever put into a professional learning session presentation (on the history and usage of containerization)

Fallout 76's biggest failure among many is that you don't get an acheivment for getting irradiated in the "this is not a place of honor" disposal site.

Having now repaired an olympus XA's stuck aperture blades I can safely say a career in camera repair is not for me. I got it working, but I took some real psychic damage trying to get some of those really small parts back in place for re-assembly. Notably, the rangefinder cover mechanism.

Guess I should actually pay attention to bluesky since people seem to have stuck with it, which I didn't expect. Then again, the hellsite somehow continues to get worse. And let's be honest, fediverse was never going to have mass appeal (bsky/threads using psuedo federated models not withstanding).

My favorite part about flying to portland is that it's obscenely easy to play the "who else is on my flight" game while waiting to get thru security.
