Been told that I'm not allowed into the office bake off until the end because my work puts people off.

I was talking to one of my closest friends about this, and I do think a part of it is that men are sort of taught to expect things to just happen, because their Mum (usually) does it for them. So when friendships take work, they fall off. This is, it's worth adding, on them.
