Here is the 'essential's of a new framework just published on how to improve decisionmaking for environmental chemicals

Can't recommend @lisalsong.bsky.social enough! Share your stories with her. She covers environmental pollution, polluters and their harms to communities.

Lianne is the best - everyone should hear her great talks about the ups and downs of how science is used at federal agencies

😭 crying and laughing about this - when politicians can't understand science and the very sad consequences

Cash! the new anonymous payment system ;-)

Our new paper on how to make decision making more transparent and focused on things that matter - science, human rights and whether we need it in the first place. @profrrothschild.bsky.social @nickchartres.bsky.social

Interesting - but they did not report by the different age groups the statistical test for difference. Perhaps it is stable because of the older ages?

Learn the latest science and keep up with work to combat the leading vector of disease this century. Based on the excellent papers in the UCSF @ucsf-industrydocs.bsky.social

Excellent article about how the T*** administration will use the cover of crises to dismantle state laws they don't like.

“The reference dose is not a safe level,” said @traceywoodruff.bsky.social ... flame retardants accumulate in ... bodies over years ... making it even more crucial to get the regulation right. “If you make a mistake, your mistake is forever,” she said. www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...

Black plastic utensils contain flame retardants because of recycling of electronic black plastic that comes back to haunt us (or expose us) to toxic chemicals. Another reason why recycling plastic is not the solution. www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...

😂 - my week 1. Woke up, got out of bed, dragged a comb across my head 2. Found my coat, grabbed my hat, made the bus in seconds flat 3. My boss spoke and I went into a dream 4. I read the news, oh boy! 5. 4,000 holes in all our laws, and though some were rather small, judges had to count them all

👏👏👏

Looks like RFK may be talking healthy american But there is high level staff that look to be calling the shots from the first T*** administration - Ken Callahan

I haven't watched the whole thing, But I cannot recommend this guy and his show enough!! he is funny and pointed and gets right to the issue - 👇👇 EXCellent!

RFK Jr. kills NIH climate change programs Research critical for Healthy Americans It would have identified gastrointestinal injury from heat-related algae blooms children’s asthma from mold following hurricanes malaria increases due to temperature increase www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Scientists are now organizing events, called Stand Up for Science, on 7 March in Washington, D.C., and state capitals. So far, they have attracted more than 100 volunteers from some 30 states who are hoping to rally support for research as a public good. scim.ag/4328LAD

Corporations are a leading disease “vector," say scientists at #UCSF Center to End Corporate Harm. Makers of harmful products have long fought off health-protective regs to usher in an “industrial epidemic” of chronic diseases. My latest @insideclimatenews.org insideclimatenews.org/news/1902202...

UCSF IHPS faculty, Laura Schmidt, on @tradeoffs.org. RFK Jr. Wants to Change What Americans Eat. He's Not The First. tradeoffs.org/2025/02/06/r...

so cool in so many ways - art + science + location = winner

hi, are you doomscrolling? You should order your free Covid-19 tests while the federal program still exists: special.usps.com/testkits

See article on Our new Center to End Corporate Harms by @lizagross.bsky.social See how we are going to address the leading disease risk factors - corporations and their products One in four deaths globally is due to exposure to chemicals, plastics, and fossil fuels.

This is the opposite of efficient. The new staff are paid less (so cheaper) because they are earlier in their careers and they are generally more eager and willing to work harder. So just a reminder this is not about efficiency - its about killing science.

LOL my dog could not stop watching #Flow.... maybe because there were was a real dog and cat and not a human version

Join me tomorrow to talk about the new film Single Use Planet It's about the plastic pollution crisis But it is also a story about how corporations are making profits over people - lots of money @susrust.bsky.social from LATimes is moderating www.eventbrite.com/e/single-use...

And we will be watching. We showed how corporations lie about the harms of their products #PFAS a classic example of how the industry knew their product was toxic decades before we did. If the administration cares about #PFAS in straws then they should care more about #PFAS in drinking water.

You can not make this sh** up! Check out the 'facts' on banning plastic straws closely. You can see their Achilles heel It's PFAS. They argue paper straws have PFAS. And they use this argument because no one wants PFAS www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/...

A number of post-docs and other early career scientists working for the government on environment and health were summarily laid off today. Some given 30 minute notice to leave. This saves little money and devastates lives while making our communities less healthy. Cruel and wanton destruction.

So sad - people will die - and they will be killed by an administration that got rid of the disease police CDC cuts expected to devastate Epidemic Intelligence Service, a ‘crown jewel’ of public health www.statnews.com/2025/02/14/t... via @statnews.com

And FYI - they have to keep the data systems that the government supports to make sure we know what is happening re health - like this one www.epa.gov/americaschil...

Reading the new EO on making american healthy www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/... Reads like one of our factsheets and papers - like this one www.nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.1... But doesn't include the real culprit - - its corporations and polluting industries that are making Americans sick

‼️A new study by IHPS faculty member @traceywoodruff.bsky.social, published in Environmental Science & Technology, reviews the impact of microplastics on digestive, reproductive, and respiratory health.🩺 link: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...

Not sure where to find datasets that were previously hosted on government websites? The @busph.bsky.social Center for Health Data Science has developed a streamlined interface to let you search for essential public data: www.FindLostData.org Please share!

Read our statement about the new head of Health and Human Services We need unbiased science We need to get rid of toxic chemicals making people sick unsure how RFK will make people healthier when this administration is putting the chemical/fossil fuel industry in charge of EPA.
