If Musk isn’t in charge of DOGE, then: 1. Who is? 2. Why have he and his minions been allowed access to federal computer systems? www.aol.com/white-house-...

AP - Zelensky negotiates American peace treaty with Trudeau, excluding American representation. They agree the US will make territorial concessions to Canada of the west coast and New England, leaving the mid-west and mountain regions as demilitarized buffer zones.

D.O.G.E.: Dumb Oligarchs Getting Extra-rich

This is how average Germans felt in 1933. Watching, feeling helpless. Hoping government institutions would stop him, then seeing them fall. Hoping it was an historical blip. Hoping to come through it okay by ocusing on day-to-day life. One small step from ignoring the smoke rising above the camp…

I can’t believe I never heard about a Lamar/Drake feud that I care absolutely nothing about!

Sad to hear Tom Robbins passed away. While more famous for books like Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, my favorite will always be Villa Incognito. He had a gift for turn-of-phrase that bridged serious social commentary and goofy comedy. A once-in-a-lifetime author. 😢

@snottytruant.bsky.social This cross-stitch bird thing. It’s like I never knew you.

Super Bowl half time. No idea who he is. Don’t get it. Liked the flag football commercial though!

Does “Golden Age” refer to a time when planes keep crashing, eggs cost $10–15 a dozen, the U.S. is being booed and protested by all our allies, workers are losing their jobs, and Americans’ personal data is being rummaged through by unelected oligarchs and their strange crew of 20-something incels?

Time Magazine didn’t get it quite right. There. Now we have it.

Father, tell me again how The Event started…

And now Charles Blow. Who’s left to read on The NY Times editorial page? ☹️ www.nytimes.com/2025/02/05/o...

Crying at a bar in IAH as I read this. Love. Just wow. 🥲 www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

My bi-weekly restaurant column in the Napa Register. Ah Chef Chiarello, you are still missed! The Mayne Menu: Bottega: Italian food that’s anything but rustic napavalleyregister.com/arts-and-ent...

It was all anticipatory anxiety. Closed FB and Amazon accounts, took name off of Tesla waitlist, etc.). It was actually quite easy. I spend less time on social media. I spend a few extra seconds searching a purchase. All my trepidations have been unrealized. We do that to ourselves, don’t we.

Don’t know if it’ll make a difference, but I sent the email. open.substack.com/pub/bookersq...

He released 2.2 billion gallons of water reserved for the dry summer months. And ironically, those reservoirs don’t even feed Los Angeles or Southern California. He is damaging my state. He has given unauthorized people access to my private information. CALexit. www.cnn.com/2025/02/03/c...

[2] No Meta, no Amazon/Whole Foods, no Tesla. It’s easier than you think - I’ve done all three. There are blue alternatives to them all. Your cash is a weapon. Wield it!

[1] US wealth is concentrated in the coasts/cities, both dominated by Democrats. We must flex our financial muscle. The tech-bro oligarch concentration of wealth is in stocks/options. Tank sales & clicks/advertising & they fall. Want to bring this administration to its knees? Cashtrate his backers.

[4] No more Amazon and no more Whole Foods and no more WAPO. My experiences with SubStack and BlueSky have been positive so far. They’re not Facebook, but my hope is that I find the connection I once had here. Please, follow suit. It’s the only way to defang the snake.

[3] No more FB (unclick). No clicks, no advertisers. No advertisers, revenue. No revenue, stock plunges. Stock plunges, wealth evaporates. It’s that simple. For Elon, is means not buying the second Tesla. See what happens when the Democrats concerned about climate change stop buying your cars.

[2] American oligarchy, I knew what had to happen. Their wealth is largely in stock. That stock is founded on clicks.
