I completely agree. All the petitions do (additionally to what Lee says) is make people feel like they've done something so they don't end up doing something else more effective (talking to people, writing to MPs/orgs etc). It stifles resistance.

Bullingham says it's based on legal advice. I can't imagine said advice was about the judgment itself, as its sports detour was clearly obiter.* Was it perhaps legal advice that warned the FA that if they didn't go with the EHRC version of the ruling, they'd get sued within about five minutes?
