POPE POPE POPE POPE

All of the British political parties are engaged in some sort of Brewster's Millions caper where they're all trying desperately hard to not get any votes at all

⚽️ Grassroots women’s football rallying in support of trans teammates after FA and SFA bans, launching crowdfunders and speaking out 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 70+ teams and leagues nationwide for women and non-binary people have issued statements - some are preparing to pull out of FA-affiliated leagues More here… ⬇️

They've literally done highlights of some smoke

A group of us law academics put together a letter on FWS v Scottish Ministers UK Supreme Court ruling & we are asking other *UK based law folk* (academic activist practitioner etc) to sign More details 👇 #transrights #trans #transgender #lawsky #academicsky #UKlaw docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

There are now over 2000 UK academic signatories to our open letter in support of trans rights & inclusion, along with hundreds of other UK educators & international supporters. It's heartening to see such support from colleagues for our trans siblings. #NotInOurName docs.google.com/document/d/1...

If this is trans woman culture then maybe the gender criticals are right

Press release: 141 LGBTQ+, feminist and allied organisations call for transphobic political parties to be banned from Pride events

I completely agree. All the petitions do (additionally to what Lee says) is make people feel like they've done something so they don't end up doing something else more effective (talking to people, writing to MPs/orgs etc). It stifles resistance.

Only in Britain could this be described as 'late night'

Bullingham says it's based on legal advice. I can't imagine said advice was about the judgment itself, as its sports detour was clearly obiter.* Was it perhaps legal advice that warned the FA that if they didn't go with the EHRC version of the ruling, they'd get sued within about five minutes?

FA chief Bullingham insists transgender ban ‘not an ideological judgment’ in response to the open letter from Goal Diggers FC, delivered after 12 mile walk to Wembley, calling for a reversal of the ban www.theguardian.com/football/202...

⚽️🏳️‍⚧️🗣️ Man City player Katie Startup: “I hope that women’s football and its community can continue to be the space it has always been, where people feel safe to simply be who they are.” ✍️ Jessy Parker Humphreys, @theobserveruk.bsky.social #LetThemPlay #LetTransWomenPlay #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Very happy to see members of the scientific community come out to oppose the misrepresentation of biology by politicians and others with transphobic aims. If you are a scientist, healthcare professional, or anyone with relevant experience, please consider reading & signing.

🚨BREAKING🚨 WE’VE WON OUR CASE TO #DefendDemocracy The Court of Appeal has ruled that anti-protest laws which completely ignored the will of Parliament are unlawful

This woman is a hero, and allies doing things like this will make a huge difference

I haven't really got time to post my thoughts here yet, but will do later. Suffice to say you'll probably see a lot of them across various media outlets today anyway

You can list the number of Scottish journalists who uncritically gave Lucy Hunter Blackburn a platform and treated her as an infallible expert and you'd list 90% of newspaper's political journalists in Scotland. Here is the result. Demanding being trans is made illegal entirely.

This is, obviously, bad news. There are zero trans women currently officially playing in Scottish women's football, which if anything adds to the frustration. This does not automatically mean England & Wales will do the same, but obv it adds to the political pressure www.bbc.com/news/article...

Absolutely wild that this is getting coverage right now and this journalist hasn't even bothered to make the link with the current moral panic www.bbc.com/news/article...

Open letter to Pride events: Stand with trans people, no pride for anti-trans parties

If you want to know how serious our decline in the UK, when North Carolina did what the Labour Government and EHRC have done, the then UK Government told LGBT+ people to beware travelling there. (Credit to @kazhawa.bsky.social.) www.voanews.com/amp/uk-issue...
