#TBT Intersection of transportation & homelessness. Meeting the needs of unhoused people is not core to the mission of transportation agencies, yet they often have to respond. What are some best practices? For airports: trec.pdx.edu/news/psu-res... For public transit: trec.pdx.edu/news/beyond-...

This is what our Portland speed study found, too- trec.pdx.edu/news/effect-... - that lowering the speed limit brought median speeds down across the board, improving road safety even without 100% compliance.

Daylighting intersections with bike parking is a win-win for safety & multimodal travel

Interesting research to help guide the adaptation of road safety measures to the local context.

In 1977, the first red Dutch cycling path was opened in Tilburg. This was the birth of an icon in cycling infrastructure, used around the world. Tilburg is often visited to this day by international delegations looking for inspiration to design liveable and active cities. https://buff.ly/4hd9cMJ

The initial research was launched with the help of funding from state DOTs and city agencies, including @portlandgov.bsky.social.

This presentation will summarize lessons learned and propose next steps for agencies and researchers who want to incorporate big data into active transportation volume / exposure estimates. The research was led by Sirisha Kothuri of @maseehcollege.bsky.social.

It's past time we had network-wide bicycling & walking estimates. PSU researchers led #datafusion efforts to combine traditional & emerging data sources, and they've developed a method that works. What's the next step? Find out 3/14: trec.pdx.edu/events/profe... (Are you local? Come in person!)
