Interesting statement from Rep Derrick Van Orden (R, WI-3). Something to hold him to when we get to actual decisions being made: “To be explicitly clear: today’s budget resolution did not include any cuts to specific programs. Anyone saying otherwise is lying and engaging in the fearmongering 🧵

*sigh* Okay, as someone who has watched lefties use the same tactics for a decade and a half with similar results every time… I have notes. Yall have the spirit, and I don’t want to discourage that, but we need to talk about these tactics.

So, I have an idea and would like to see who’s interested. A regular (weekly?) activism support or discussion group on Zoom. We’d talk about and provide support for each other on actions we’re taking to resist the ongoing coup. This would be for people who feel helpless but want to DO SOMETHING. 🧵

It’s a snowy day in Wisconsin - what an excellent day to enjoy this gorgeous documentary of Wisconsin’s LGBTQ+ history. It’s free! Forever! It won a Midwest Emmy! And it’s full of people who refuse to be erased, no matter what a government says or does. pbswisconsin.org/wisconsin-pr...

Professor who teaches African American studies here. If your school eliminates or bans it, I will personally host free zoom sessions, provide resources, or answer questions for students, parents/guardians, or teachers who are interested in learning or discussing African American studies.

Dear Everyone, Now is the time to use your platform and your voice. Use your influence. Even if you impact one person, it can make a difference. We have power in numbers and we need to amplify each other and fight together to save our country. Now is not the time to tune it out.

Another relative got stopped and detained by ICE today near Merrilan, WI. Didn’t have a tribal ID. Things are moving fast in the U.S. and we’re coming up on the part where our people need to lay low, so I’m gonna quiet down a bit because Reasons.

In addition to all the other organizing and resisting I’m doing, I’m leaning into community. Open house dinners at our house on the last Sunday of the month. Not everyone who follows me on here is gonna come visit IRL, but if you are, let’s be together. Sunday 2/23, 5 pm. Message for address.

Do I need to start a cooperative home school in rural central WI for queer and trans kids and kids of color?

Not to be alarmist, but this is the most radical presidential action I've ever seen. He's straight up seizing Congress' budget power. What do laws matter if the mad king's whims dictate what gets enforced and where money goes? It's not a policy memo - it's a revolution. Don't let it be a quiet one.

Today’s show was my last at CNN. My closing message: It’s never a good time to bow down to a tyrant… don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to fear. Hold on to the truth… and hope.

The bishop giving this sermon just put a target on her own back, for all the right reasons. Bless her. The example she's setting on Day 2 of this nightmare is one we'll need to follow.

We failed to stop fascism's rise. Now it's dancing about on the White House lawn. I don't know how to fix all this but I do know that the shit we've been doing won't get us out of this one. shatterzone.substack.com/p/we-failed-...

My gay wife and I spent the evening doing an inventory of our seed supply for this year's garden - literally tending our own home. They can't have that; these experiences will stand, no matter what comes next.
