"Cycling to school almost became extinct — until one manrevived the bike bus." By Jonathan Maus of @bikeportland.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/environment/...

British former track cyclist, @jasonkenny107 (IG), getting up close and personal with his new Orox - readying it to be the ultimate school run and commuter machine 💪 #TernOrox #TernBicycles #CargoBike #LeaveTheCarAtHome

Are you disabled and live in York or Cardiff? Do you have issues with access control barriers on traffic-free routes when walking, wheeling, or cycling? We are recruiting disabled participants for in person interviews to discuss their experiences. DM, comment, email if interested. 1/

You must watch this A really beautiful adaptive cycling adventure Not inspo-porn about defying the odds But how disabled people, through creativity, grit, interdependencies with other humans & technologies, & by allowing vulnerability, are making the outdoors accessible ❤️❤️

HOT RESEARCH NEWS! Motonormativity ("car brain") is a bias that stops people making rational judgements about driving en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motonor... Our new study shows where this bias comes from AND how it makes people think they're odd for supporting changes to the transport system 🧵

Things are looking good ahead of the launch of our ESRC-Funded JUST Centre next month. If you'd like to come along, you can book your place here: www.eventbrite.com/e/just-centr...

A very clear response from London Fire Commissioner, Andy Rowe to a question at Fire Plenary last week from Emma Best AM about the impact of LTNs on fire brigade attendance times. "We genuinely couldn't find any evidence of LTNs doing anything to our overall attendance times".

Can any academics think of research articles where the author is also a participant? In this case, author is 1 of 6 participants who completed an a-synchronous written interview. P.S don't come at me with chat of bias. No-one is neutral & researchers pretending to be is the biggest bias of all.

New #OA special issue paper by @tricyclemayor.bsky.social demonstrates how through both encounters and nonencounters with #AccessControl barriers on traffic-free routes, the city is rendered less liveable, rather than #enlivened, for many #disabled people https://buff.ly/3QiKeji

Get into work, you parasites, but also we're removing measures to make that possible (employers don't like employing disabled people) but good news! Assisted Suicide with reduced safeguards is on its way. Aren't we lucky to have a left-wing government. www.disabilitynewsservice.com/minister-sug...

I've read the new guidance on consultation in transport schemes. Overall an informative 'how to' on doing consultation. Two critiques I'd make: 1. Communities are not 'hard to reach'. Structural inequalities endemic to organisations render them inaccessible to some. and

Crazy that girls today are still (or again) having to battle such sexism and stereotyping. In similar vein, can we also recognise that many girls want to play sport/skateboard etc and not just have “places to sit”?! www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/2491486...

I just spoke to a powerchair user. The electrics cut out if gradient is too steep. At times, he's been "stranded in the road" because the slope on the dropped kerb was too steep (from context, an "A" road). The safety of #Disabled people depends on getting this right! Follow the link!

👏 “After one year of the zone, nitrogen dioxide from traffic was lower, GP visits for respiratory illnesses were down by 25% and those for heart problems decreased by 24%”

The phrase I most hate to see in academic articles "The COVID-19 pandemic presents a unique opportunity..." Millions of people dying is never an opportunity.

"This paper is a call for urban regions to go beyond rhetoric of inclusion and ensure the materiality that disabled people encounter within our everyday lives facilitates the mobilities of actively travelling disabled citizens"

No. Next question.

As a blind person & a guide dog handler whenever I share examples of problematic driving or dangerous behaviour by drivers people will tell me to report it. So this is what happens when I report it. This is what the follow up experience has been like after the incident below. ⬇️
