My mum would have been 92 yesterday. Here’s a poem she wrote back in the 1960s, taken from her pamphlet, The Other Side of the Water. Happy Birthday, Mum! (Sorry- as was often the case, I’m a day late!)

Really pleased to have four poems in the spring edition of Tears in the Fence 81 (tearsinthefence.com/blog/). Many thanks to David Caddy for publishing these poems. Here are two of the shorter ones.

How about an election in Russia?

Seeing a lot of people making this into a #Resistance battle cry with absolutely no introspection or humility. Do not let them do that.

Apparently the work of Portuguese editorial cartoonist Zez Vaz. 👏👏

I love how Trump, Vance and Musk style themselves defenders of free speech, while simultaneously banning government agencies from mentioning climate change or diversity (inc biodiversity!), equity and inclusion, or even possessing maps which show the Gulf of Mexico. Torquemadas the lot of them.

The way Trump has been dealing with Ukraine, it already feels like if there were no peace deal, Europe would be fighting a proxy war against Trump and Putin in Ukraine.

Much enjoyed. ‘Butterfly briefly stainglasses our window’ is a lovely line/image.

If, for example, the Chinese state did half of what Musk and Trump are doing to the US federal government, degrading its capacities, undermining its ability to function, destabilising the Union, it would be considered an act of war. These are not patriots. They're an urgent threat to national life.
