I needed to hear this voice and these words at this moment. "This chapter will not be written simply by whoever occupies the Oval Office or wealthiest among us. The American story will be written by you, by we the people." Thank you, VP Kamala Harris. #NAACPImageAwards youtu.be/bnmKwxjMKgs?...

Poor reading comprehension! Way to go, @murray.senate.gov!

Demand your GOP congressman cut their budget and lay off some staff. Congress spends 6.4billion/year on their own operations.

Gov. Mills showed precisely the sort of integrity in the face of political pressure that the majority of the party currently lacks. More importantly, she did so extemporaneously and without hesitation from a purple state where this isn't a universally popular position. www.maine.gov/governor/mil...

Hillary warned us, Michelle warned us, and Kamala warned us, but they didn’t listen because they were women.

I'm just saying...

In summation, a qualified Black man got fired and will be replaced with a white man who doesn’t meet the qualifications for the position.

"It's not so much staying alive, it's staying human that's important. What counts is that we don't betray each other." - George Orwell -

Hillary was right. Kamala was right. Jasmine is right. AOC is right. Elizabeth is right. I see a theme.

Tonight we proposed an amendment to ensure that the Republican budget doesn’t raise prescription drug costs for seniors on Medicare. And guess what? Republicans blocked it — just like they opposed us when we gave Medicare the power to lower drug prices.

Just got out of jail. Only forty four left to go to catch John Lewis’s record. Remember - peaceful civil disobedience. Don’t comply in advance.

listen to this. Elon can barely form a sentence right now.

REMINDER: The single biggest driver of our national debt since 2001 has been **Republican** tax cuts.

“They were careless people ...— they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness ... and let other people clean up the mess they had made.” George Packer invoking Fitzgerald on the dismemberment of USAID www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...

When FAA employees are telling us it’s not safe to fly, we should probably listen.

Very “we have always been at war with Eurasia” vibes today

NEW: The director of data science and engineering for what is now known as the US DOGE Service has resigned. "If DOGE truly was concerned with efficiency, they wouldn’t have fired experts in procurement," she writes, "who prevent waste up front." This is by @makenakelly.bsky.social

Today, I found out that the Department of Defense banned the Well-Read Black Girl anthology by Glory Edim. I was one of its contributors. I'm really hurt right now. So if you have it in you, please buy books by Black women from independent bookstores.

Banned/challenged books are often difficult reads with jarring content, but we can't shield ourselves nor our children from the realities of the world forever - it's better to build empathy and understanding through books, especially by reading books by/about marginalized people.

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

For those of you doing #BelovedFebruary with @marcusluther.bsky.social. Reading this novel slowly, and in community, fills me up with connection and pushes my thinking. youtu.be/Xu2euaQGzDQ?...

If DOGE is making a simple math error here it is making simple errors elsewhere -- like firing mission critical employees and cutting life-saving programs. There is a reason why government sometimes moves slow, so it doesn't make stupid decisions www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/u...

I think most people are intuitively aware of this but something like the official White House account posting an “ASMR” video of shackled immigrants is not just cruel for its own sake, it’s intentional envelope-pushing to ramp up to desensitization over inhumane detention, camps, and deaths

They were careless people, Trump and Musk — they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that held them together.
