Anyway since I'm here, restream.space is coming apace. I'm carrying the internal video for one event, and we're going to pivot Kusogrande to using this backend next season. The first event to use the full automation stack will likely be BBG. Spooky :)

Rowling directly contributed 70k GBP to the organization that brought the suit in the recent UK anti-trans decision. That money came from royalties on her work. I want to make it very clear there is a short walk between buying her work and doing harm. You don't have the luxury of denying it. Don't.

Got restream.space to the point that it's a full on video CDN. Next is the management stuff so hosts can change graphics, text, and video sources on a webpage designed for capture and restream. End case is someone captures that page in OBS and hosts use the control panel to change what it displays.

Ikari III on the C64 really is mostly shocking in how far it falls from the original arcade version. If you look at it from the POV of "Some suit said they wanted the whole game in there with no cuts or simplifications", it's quite a valiant attempt to do that. Just gods it's an eyesore.

I'm in the process of launching a service where I provide a RTMP/WebRTC video CDN for small events, so they don't have to run their own RTMP servers. This'll be free for certain events. More to do, but the core backbone's been powering Kusogrande for a year now. More info: restream.space

I've been on a Bomberman kick for the past week. I've finished... NES 1, NES 2, Super, '93, '94, Super 2... and I'm looking at Super 3 and Super 4. It's such a dense series. They had to be working on multiple games at once because the games don't... progress smoothly? They're all over. Neat tho.

Watching someone go through NextFest games. Their title and overlay both say "No requests from devs", it's happened twice anyway. And like, trussing it up as "Can't read" belies the actual thing here: they don't care, being mocked costs them nothing but getting to mention their game is free mktg.

"The new Discord change sucks I'm going to Matrix" G'luck. There's no way to remove illegal media from your server, no way to defederate from other servers, and no mod tools, and its E2EE sucks. A $5/mo droplet can't run Synapse w/o major caveats. I STRONGLY recommend not running a Matrix server.

"That seemed like a sudden match cancellation!" you might say. YEAH. This happened out of nowhere to one of the racer streams.

Also.. where did all the people from Best of NES go when they left it? Any one central place? I dunno if I'm much of a runner any more but I'd be 1000% down for doing support work for a community still in there, long as it's a bit more comfortable for who I am now.

Wish I had more room on my bio for the crack I made on Masto about having respecced all my object permanence into tits and anxiety. That's a good snapshot of the vibe I bring to the venue in 2025.

It's the first day of Gauntlet Round on Kusogrande and I did a lot of the legwork this year for this round. Only a tiny bit nervous because I'm going to bring a different idea of how to do this to the table, you know? I think it'll be fun though.

Legitimately, Twitch... why the hell did you even add an upload feature to the site when you're now gonna limit how much we have? Welp, gonna have to export a bunch of super old VODs and, yet again, consider streaming directly to YouTube...

Kinda wish I could split a horizontal layout livesplit into two or three rows to slip in under a 16:9 capture that's already shrunk to make room for chat and stuff. I guess I could just capture it twice and crop if I don't overflow my screen. Thinking about Balatro all-deck runs...

Speedrunners: If you have stuff in splits.io, it's shutting down at the end of March. In theory all that data is just in your livesplit split files (but not easy to extract). You might want to take a look and see if there's anything you should export before they shut down.

Rough day, but I got to share Hachiemon with a couple hundred people and that's good enough for me.

bsky's "The discover tab shows you stuff like what you like" claim seems to be specious considering there's exactly one (1) piece of new perverse art on there for me. If it worked as desired that junk would read like a zoologist's bird naming convention.

I hope every single person with their "GDQ was neat but 'trans rights' every 5 seconds got annoying" bullshit is paying attention right now and makes an abrupt 180. And every single person who doesn't encounters an experience that ends up a footnote in a physics professor's research thesis.

All The Gamers calling the Nightmare Kart patch that recolors the bootsplash but touches nothing else "a meltdown". Like okay, if y'all gonna call something that small a meltdown, maybe I'll just be loud and not worry about what you think as you're clearly absolutely unreasonable.

Monster Rancher Hop-a-bout was on Kusogrande today and damn that game is so charming, even if it does control like an office chair on an ice rink. Don't play Golem though. I always ran Suezo when I had fantasies of getting good enough at that game to post a time.

Today in Kusogrande Tech: Trying to fix a bug in our portable OBS/emu pack where Bizhawk changing resolution after launch breaks OBS capture. Far as I can tell Game Capture regressed at some point to never updating the surface dimensions once the capture hooks into Bizhawk. That's unfortunate.

Congratulations to this being who is the first one to post something that made me actually scream "NOOOOO!" at my desk out loud in years.

There was only one way a live band covering a Crazy Taxi speedrun's soundtrack to circumvent copyright concerns could work, and it's if everyone involved went all the way in. And that's what happened. Wow.
