If you are interested in pursuing a postdoc combining proteomics a genomics with functional molecular biology to study ubiquitin (-like) signaling in genome biology we are looking for candidates for the next MSCA Fellowships call!!!!

#ASMS2025 Bruker User Meeting is about to start:

Integrating Alternative Fragmentation Techniques into Standard LC-MS Workflows Using a Single Deep Learning Model Enhances Proteome Coverage https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.05.28.656555v1

I am really pleased we managed to squeeze this story out during #ASMS2025. This is our contribution relating to the fantastic Omnitrap/Orbitrap. What we thought would be a straightforward conversation of our exploris-omnitrap turned into quite a journey. (1/n) www.biorxiv.org/cgi/content/...

Booking for the @ukbspr.bsky.social post-conference single-cell proteomics workshop is now open! Numbers are capped at 20 participants, so please register early to avoid disappointment. payments.liv.ac.uk/conferences-... If the system tells you it is at capacity, please drop me an email.

All western blots should require MS validation. Any reviewer that asks for the reverse should not be allowed to science 😅🫣 #proteomics #TeamMassSpec

Fast & Fair peer review with pre-contracted paid reviewers. Many (including me) have been skeptical, but is this a way to really make it work? www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

We have released DIA-NN 2.1.0, download link github.com/vdemichev/Di..., release notes github.com/vdemichev/Di.... It is a minor update, main highlights are: - Built-in support for Thermo .raw (Windows + Linux) - New QC metrics in PDF report & visualising trends across the experiment

As pointed out by someone else on LinkedIn, the new anti obesity peptide recently published in Nature has the following MS/MS spectra 🤔🫣 Paper for reference: www.nature.com/articles/s41... #proteomics #TeamMassSpec

Interesting paper by the groups of Dima Filippov @leidenadpr.bsky.social @led3hub.bsky.social and @michielvermeulen.bsky.social in ChemBioChem. They developed a biotinylated photoaffinity probe of the PARP inhibitor Olaparib and used it to profile off-targets. chemistry-europe.onl...

Very cool! Had no idea tyrosine could be overlabeled by NHS 😮😬 #proteomics #TeamMassSpec

Big news: we are setting up a new non-profit organization to run bioRxiv and medRxiv. It's called openRxiv [no it's not a new preprint server; it's dedicated organization to oversee the servers] openrxiv.org 1/n

This dot is a region that intersect multiple cell junctions in an epithelia. These dots act as tiny anchors of cell contacts and they’re critical for epithelial coherence during homeostasis AND development. I’m @katecavanaugh.bsky.social and I’ll be your guide on this 🧵 about tricellular vertices.

For all of you who cannot access pubmed, here is a good alternative: europepmc.org

It's not just PubMed. All NCBI services are down. This includes: - RefSeq - NCBI Gene Database - NCBI BLAST Server - NCBI Entrez If this becomes permanent (or if servers slow down), this is a debilitating blow to genome and genomics research.

We're here!! Aaaand we need some help :) Calling all #proteomics researchers www.reddit.com/r/proteomics...

At what point do non-US countries need to get together and start replicating important US resources in the event they’re taken down? E.g. Pubmed and BLAST are hosted by the NIH, and the NIH is having a few issues at the moment.

This is just a short love letter to PubMed: absolutely one of the best things US agencies have ever done for science. 'When I were a lad': we had databases of articles (Science Citation Index Expanded or Medline) but the only way to access text was to find the physical journal then photocopy it.

📢 I've decided to turn my Personal Youtube Channel into a Science Channel I will start uploading tutorials focused mainly on Protein Structure and Protein Prediction 🤔 What would you like to see? Ideas?

I’m really proud to announce the 2025 Cancer Metabolism Showcase and Workshop, May 5th and 6th, 9:30 AM - 3 PM EST. This year, our Keynote Speaker is Dr. Jeffrey Rathmell from VUMC. I'm excited to come together, talk science, and support researchers in our field. www.cancermetabolismshowcase.org

Those developing all kinds of protein-ligand algorithms and software, I beg you, please incorporate some kind of false discovery filters into the training! #Chemsky

If a protein/enzyme has multiple functions, is it moonlighting? Or are the proteins with only a single function just lazy?

Very thorough single cell #proteomics work lead by Zilu Ye and team @pierresabatier.bsky.social @jespervolsen.bsky.social . The latest work demonstrates latest #Teammasssspec advances for SCP analysis. Controlling FDR using the entrapment strategy seems crucial for confident label free SCP analysis.

Coming from struct. biology, I tend to focus on folded protein domains & interactions where at least one partner is such a domain. (The other might be another folded domain, a short protein motif, or another molecule like RNA). Do such interactions explain condensate formation? Often, they seem to.
